Crazy weird question

Hey guys, since I had too much free time, I came up with a really interesting question. Is it possible to keep the guitar body but change the neck and the pickup to turn it into a bass?

This came up cos I had a hard time looking for a bass with a Jaguar body. Any recommendations?

major things to be done....

changing of bridge
changing of pickup requires digging out more wood
changing of pots
neck pocket need to be destroyed, to fit in the bass neck..

all this i can think of at the moment, too much work, imho, it's not worth it, even if possible.

the next best thing, for a jaguar bass?

Do a search on jaguar baritone(US) or the japanese version, bottom master.....

not worth the effort and risk. i'm very skeptical that a guitar body can be modified to hold bass strings.

and u'll take a LOT of time and resources to convert one.

Its very hard to keep the intonation. Just not the same. Maybe you should do a project bass. I'm sure you can get a Jaguar body and make your own! Lots of people doing that nowadays

Hmm.. thanks guys for all the inputs, appreciate it. I think I'll just get a new bass instead. BTW, the Fender Baritone was a real discovery, didn't even know it existed!

Fender did make such a 'bass', the discontinued Bass VI:
