Dear Softies,

It has been a couple of months since our last contest, and in case you missed out on the Joe Satriani Pedal contest, we are having another bigger one right now!

QUESTION
So what is this contest about? Below you will find links to 11 mp3 sound with different amp sounds. Listen to them. Your goal is to correctly guess which amp does it sound like in each mp3. Not to make things too difficult, you are only required to name the guitar amp manufacturer. The particular model of the amp will not be required. So if you think the first is a VOX AC30, you are only required to answer "VOX", although we will not stop you from including the model. Additional hints can be found in the mp3 files as well. The more correct answers you get, the higher your chance of winning!

1. Blues.mp3 - Guitar sound: Fender Strat
2. Modern Pop Rock.mp3 - Guitar sound: Fender Strat
3. 70's Rock.mp3 - Guitar sound: Gibson Les Paul Special
4. Jazz.mp3 - Guitar sound: Gibson ES175
5. 90's Pop Rock.mp3 - Guitar sound: Gibson Les Paul
6. 60's Rock.mp3 - Guitar sound: Fender Strat
7. 70's Pop Rock.mp3 - Guitar sound: Fender Strat
8. 80's Rock.mp3 - Guitar sound: Fender Strat
9. Modern Metal.mp3 - Guitar sound: Gibson Les Paul
10. Prog Metal.mp3 - Guitar sound: Gibson Les Paul
11. 90's Rock.mp3 - Guitar sound: Gibson Les Paul

The sounds you hear are performed by our very own "mystery Softie" - dha**f.

PRIZE - There will only be one lucky winner.
Stage 1 Prize - ??? Mystery prize worth at least S$50 (50 posts)
Stage 2 Prize - ??? Mystery grand prize worth at least S$150 (100 posts and subject to change)

Like the previous contest, more prizes can be won depending on the response. Prizes can eventually progress to Stage 2 and so on. The more softies participating, the bigger the prize! So spread the word! The contest is ON!

this is a great opportunity for all the guys out there who say that nothing beats 'real' amps (compared to digital modellers). Now comes the test of ears. :) Show us you can hear the difference!
This is gonna touch some nerves :p.

wa... this is really difficult..
could be 11 different amps? or all from same amp?
any "extra" effects used? or just straight from guitar to amp, using on board distortion?

it doesn't sound like a line6 or vox..
i dun dare put final answer yet.. haha.. wait for more post..

hope its not those rare amps.. like ENGL.. genz benz.. diezel herbert..

more hints please!

LOL! That's what makes it interesting.

And ohyah, do note that there is a dead line to this contest. We will be confirming the dates soon. As well as the prizes. Stage 2 prize should be worth at least S$150!!! So good luck everyone!!!
