Hi~

:) Im planning to buy a loop pedal (either Boss RC2 or the Akai Headrush E2) and i want to pass a mic and my guitar through it so that i can loop voice too.

I emailed the pedals' support staff and they say that i need a signal spliiter like a mixing desk to preemp the mic... Do i really need to? Im a really poor musician.

Can i just use a 2 pin connector thing to join my mic and guitar as 1 input for the pedal?

just go ahead and try it and let us know...

The staff reply is correct as well. But if being poor, no choice liao, just do what ever you can think of. There will be times when no defintitive answer can be gotten, be experimental, daring a bit, it will do good for for the experience of playing with those toys..

Long time ago, i tried connecting a cheapo karaoke mic into boss pedal just for fun, it works. I didnt care whether will it spoil anything or is it wrong, as long i get what i want, iam happy.

Worst come to worst, a behringer mixer is one of the cheapest in the market around. Buy one of those and play around. But no guarantee will work for combining mic and instrument into the looper.

And if dont want to risk and wanna play safe, wait for the new line 6 looper, jm4 to come out in the market. It just debuted in germany during a recent product show. That pedal can do instrument with mic input for looping. Wanna find out more, just look over to llne6 site or google for it.

What mic are you using?

You would most probably need a pre-amp for the mic, else the signal will not be strong enough for you to hear.

Do you have a guitar amp?
I'd say go buy a cheap behringer mixer.

Else, its very difficult without mic preamp. Normal KTV mics come with 1/4 inch plugs, but if you plug it into a PC, you can hardly hear anything.

That is what will happen in your case.

Hm... at most, get a schematic to make a mic preamp and DIY?

You could checkout the digitech jamman pedal. It has separate guitar and mic plugs and separate volume controls for each.

wow thanks lots guys for the replies.

I havent got a mic or an amp at the moment, because i want to check the feasibility of the whole set up beofre i spend any money.

I thinking of getting a used smarvo amp that someone is auctioning on SOFT. It has 1 input jack, very basic, and cost $85 haha.

My acoustic guitar is a Cort MR727f with fishman electronics, so i think perhaps the guitar side should be no problem.

Widdly, are you refering to the new digitech jamman?

The new jamman is freaking orgasmic, but costs too much. Im looking at the $340 Akai headrush still...

Lightice and Patheinraindropmoe, are you refering to this mixer?its a 20 USD mixer with 4 channels.

i actually tried the 2-input thing into my RC-2 but the mic was very very soft compared to the guitar. you'll need a preamp to boost the mic signal.

also, you'll need separate volume control in order to better balance the guitar and mic levels. i got a samson mini mixer to do the job.

Samson Audio - S-mix

worked really well for me until i decided to sell both to get a jamman. =)
