HELP!! impedance mismatch..

my tube head has 2 outputs:
4 and 8ohms.

the cab that i want to use is rated at 16ohms.

can this work??
would the impedance difference result in lower volume??
how would this setup effect my tone/sound?
thanks alot.

can you please be more specific?

as in, going from 8-->16 should be safe no?
as opposed to going from 16-->8 which i can understand may blow the amp transformer..

thanks.

Your cab is what kind one?

2X12 or 1X12 or 4X12

if its not 1X12 it can be rewired to become 8 or 4 ohms

Quite frankly, if the amp offers 2 instead of 3 amp impedance outputs, I wouldn't want to mismatch - even if the link up there says it is typically safe.

It might be better for you to wire the 2x12 in parallel so the impedance is at 4 ohms instead. No issues on this one, and if one of your speaker blows, your amp will still survive.

Any experts here, correct me if I am wrong.

You r fine going from 8ohm head to 16ohm cab,not the other way round
Its called safe mismatched
I seem to lose some high end when connected this way

you might want to rewire the cab in parallel for 4ohm operation
