Commendation to a fellow SOFTie!

[Rather than the usual flaming of bad buy/sell transactions, I've decided to stray from the norm and give an unorthodox experience on a positive transaction instead.]

I've joined this forum since May 2007 and has been actively using it since then, be it posting on threads or on making use of the classifieds. I've bought and sold numerous items, from small baubles like daisy chains, to larger ones like guitars and amplifiers.

Yesterday, I chanced upon a buyer that went totally out of his way to provide great service; and I really mean GREAT. It started out with my response to his ad on the 9th of December 2009, where he had to go overseas and we couldn't deal before that. He promised to contact me when he's back, and he did. With a delayed trip, he sent me a message in the beginning of April 2010, 4 months after my initial interest. In this, he was a man of his word.

I told him that I was still interested, but could only deal once my pay was out, which was a week later, and he promptly agreed. Mind you, the object for sale here was going at a cheap price and would likely be sold quickly. I was surprised to find him willing to wait.

Now, yesterday was the only day we could deal (weekends not free for him) and me, serving my NS, had to agree on a loose timing, namely 5-ish. And as usual, things drag at camp (I updated him of course prior to the appointed time) and once again, he said he wouldn't mind waiting. In fact, he insisted on a convenient place for me. I arrived at 8, embarrassed, but he acted as if nothing happened.

I've been played out (apparently he was played out yesterday afternoon too) on numerous occasions, harassed with bargains, bought items on the fringe of spoiling, et cetera, but I've never met a seller so patient and agreeable. In this, I'd like to extend my thanks to none other than 'hide' for the smoothest deal I've made.

Hope there's more to come!

haha one of the few times people give incentives in the form of praise and public recognition instead of disincentive to people who do bad deals.

that's why we must make it a culture here @ SOFT to surface the good people. we tend to act more when we are unhappy (human nature- myself included) we should do likewise when things turn out well for us.

Of course at 4 I told him it would drag to seven-ish. I did my part, I told him things might not go so smooth and he was willing to wait; even after I told him it's better to deal the following day.
Plus I mentioned to him prior to the agreement that weekday dealings might have such cases happening. So it was to both parties knowledge that such an event might occur. Focus people focus! Don't just read one line and blot out the rest.
