Combos and cabs

Hey guys, I have no experiece with heads and cabs so I thought this would be a great place to learn some info.

What I DO know is, head--->> line out--->>> cab.

What I also know is, head--->>line out--->>>combo amp(mod)

What I wanna know is, combo amp--->>cab(possible?)

Reason for this question is cos I'm deciding between getting either the markV combo or Sigx head to do DI into an audio interface to do some recording.....I know either choice would need a amp simulator so thats what I'm going for.....

Also, my long term plan was to(cos I live in HDB), get the POD studio to use its amp simulator thingy(POD farm) to do some minor recording at home. Possible?

Sound engineers and amp junkies lay it on me!

I think it's possible if there's a external speaker output jack then you can connect your combo amp to a cab.

What about output for external speaker to the DI? Would it work that way? I really like the mark 5 but it doesn't have a external speakerjack(combo). It has a slave out though, is that the same as an external speaker jack?

Yup those are the ones, heard and read great reviews about the mark v combo, thats on my MUST BUY list. The sigx is more of an optional extra, just wondering if my insane setup would work.....
