Clueless abt bass

RD500 cost how much?like i said earlier, bass player recommends ibanez GSR-200 for those on low budget..

n ther's always an alternative for those who r budgeted-2nd hand..

RD500 getting it second hand would be real good for beginners or you can get it at end of year swee lee sale

i like the sound of the RD500..

but juz that when i strap it on..it looks so weird on me.

you could go for a yamaha as well. i don't really like the new vintage bb shapes they're going back to but they're really well built basses.

I would recommend you just keep on saving and saving till you can at least afford an Ibanez. RD500s are pretty bang for the buck.

1. understand the role of the bass player. understanding gear is important but if you don't know nuts about what the bass player is supposed to do then getting into gear is really useless.

2. get a decent gear to work with first ... there's no such thing as good bass or bad bass ... each different manufacturers have their standards. At the beginner level you only want to learn, you don't have preferences at the moment. Just so long as the bass sounds decent it'll be fine. Bring a friend along who knows his stuff.

3. get down rooted on your foundations.

4. don't worry too much about jargon/terms at the moment ... you'll find them out sooner or later. browse through the whole bass thread to find answers that you've been looking for instead of posting a new thread. if really don't have then post, or else alot of people will be answering like twice, thrice or even more on the same question.

5. just enjoy what you do ... that's important ...
