i do have some backgroud in music theory and i'm able to read notes and stuff (i play in a symphonic band) i do have my own band too but that's not the main reason why i wanna learn piano (although it'll be good if i can add in some keys for the songs we play) just wanna learn piano because i'll really love to play the songs i like. so i guess, according to cheez, i should just start off with pop piano?
for now, my main concern is whether i'll be able to learn the placement of fingers and hand coordination properly if i take up pop piano.. i have this tiny impression that a pop piano teacher will prolly assume that i have some background in this area and so will "rush" me into simple songs straight away instead of teaching me the basics of hand coordination =x
i dun haf the financial abilities currently to afford a piano (nor the space) so i probably will be practising using a keyboard first. will that hinder my progress? i wld love to prac as much as i can but practically speaking, i think i'll only be able to manage practising abt 2 or 3 times a week.. is that very little? =x cos my sch's workload and symphonic band and my band will nid commitment too, so i prolly wont be able to squeeze out much time for piano.. despite that, i'll really love to start learning now (once again, im a complete beginner) becos i figured i'll nv reli haf "enough time" in my entire life cos i'll always have to cope with sch/work everyday. my progress will prolly be slow, i guess...
well thats just my opinion and reason for why i wanna take up piano. or do u think, perhaps i shld take up piano next time whn im "more free"? ok i noe this is rather contradictory to my own opinion but i'd love to hear ur comments. thanks a lot!
