Classical or Acoustic

i am thinking of getting a non-electric guitar...so shld i go for an acoustic or classical?
what's the diff?

The fretboard of a classical guitar is much bigger and wider , the strings are spaced out further than an acoustic and the string action of a classical is higher than a acousitc....

diff. in strings n looks...classical hav nylon strings n flat n wide fretboard..acoustic hav steel strings,curve fretboard n not tt wide...
most of my frens who play lead used classical guitars b4 playing electric..u kno,classical players tend to go to the lead side...

I seriously don't know but I use to own a classical, that's what I noticed about it

wat do u wanna play?it took me quite some time to get used to the sound of a classical guitar..it was quite a turn-off at 1st cuz i really didnt like the 'bluntness' of the sound...

basically usual stuff...like tabs of songs i like....mostly rock and metal.

Most of them are - of the last 10 (approx.) classical guitars I tried out (all ranges, up to *very* high end) all but one had actions of around 5mm+ at 12th fret. This is partly because for classical guitar tonal production, the player must work on giving the string a fair bit of volume when plucking - obviously this would create buzz if the action were too low. If you're not playing in this style, it is not a problem to have the action lowered - in fact it's quite cheap and easy to have this done.

Classical guitar is designed to be played in a certain way with the fingertips and fingernails in conjunction to produce a particular tone. If you just use fingers alone, it will sound quite dull and woolly.

Tell your friend that this is a fatally bad idea.
Most classical guitars don't have a truss rod and are simply not designed for the tension of a set of steels and it is likely that the neck will sustain some kind of overstress. In the worst case, the bridge glue can fail and it can be ripped from the body.

not necessarily. Yamaha APX series is classical guitar with folk guitar feel.
Small fretboard, small neck and more frets.
