Hey guys,

am undecided over which Chorus to get. looked at the buy/sell, made use of the search function a whole damn lot, and i guess these are what i found to be more of the affordable range:

-Belcat Chorus
-Ehx Small Clone
-Rocktron Tsunami
-Modtone Aqua
-Boss Ch1
-Protone Lithium

Looking for that lush tone.
Am leaning towards Protone, though its abit more expensive than the rest.
what do you guys think? some input and comparison among the pedals will be very very much appreciated! ;)

If you are budget conscious, I would recommend Danelectro Cool Cat Chorus instead..

However I'm currently using the Rocktron Tsunami cause it suits my need.

small clone will be a good choice among your list, very good lush tone

belcat and modtone is basically the same thing just different branding that is what i heard so...

Protone if not wrong i recall someone mention it is a improved version of "small clone" clone O.o?

no idea how rocktron or boss sounds like.

I'm actually selling a Belcat one. I tried EHX chorus, the one with one knob only (Small clone right?) and realized the Belcat gave me much more versatility than the EHX one. Compared it with Artec and Modtone, and to me it sounded better than both. Another reason why i chose it was it is true bypass, compared to BOSS. THe Rocktron Tsunami is good stuff though. Haven't tried the Protone before, so no comments on that. Any questions about the Belcat you can ask me though, seeing that i do own one...

thanks guys for the very useful info!
Seems like you guys narrowed it down to Rocktron Tsunami and Cool Cat.
Tsunami's tempting, if not for the larger than usual size, and the chorus delay which i suspect i wont really need since i've got myself an echohead to provide the delay.
read that cool cat's running on 18v yeah? gotta get another adaptor for it if thats the case ;(
protone lithium's an improved small clone clone? like that might as well get small clone lol.

"protone lithium's an improved small clone clone? like that might as well get small clone lol. "

really depends what u need, I used to have the small clone, the preset on the one knob is nice and lush but sometime u really wish u can tweak it a bit more to your liking.

and when u engage it will have a pop sound haha.

p.s and to add on small clone is pretty big too...

To be honest, if you're looking for that lush 80s tone where the chorus was uber prominent, pedals such as the malekko omnicron chorus and the MXR Black Label Chorus will more than suit your needs. They're a little more pricey though especially for the malekko.

Been using my Small Clone for 3 years live on stage and I don't have any qualms on it.... the pop only occurs when you 1st step on it but ultimately quite all through out! :)

will love to, after reading numerous upzzzzzzzz for the ce2.

thats 200 bucks though. not too sure if i shld invest that much since im just starting out with analogues.

wait, did i just say invest? HAHA.

The Tsunami is a bang for the buck. If you don't mind the small size, it has one of the most lush chorus sounds in such an affordable pedal. Sturdy enclosure too!

i agree with the tsunami.. and ambience part is really really nice together with the chorus. you have option of stereo out too if im not wrong. used one before.. gets the job done.

how come nobody mentioned the fab chorus?? thick is thick la. cheap also la. but the enclosure isnt that good and it may get a bit noisy... fab chorus used to be owned by everyone!

Arion SCH-1 or SCH-Z. Even more lush than most, if not all, expensive boutique choruses. I had a 450sgd Red Witch Chorus before and it sounds hi fi compared to the fullness of the SCH-1.

I second Edgie! Arion is the bomb! Have to find them second-hand now though, but that's no issue with me. The lushness is just WOW. It may be plastic, but it's FANTASTIC!

I would propose the malekko chorus, cause it is so small yet so big in tone. U can definitely get the ce2 and small clone tone and much from it! I am currently a proud owner of one and did I mention it is true bypass and accepts both 9v and 12v power that changes the character of the chorus instantly!

hahah, in the end i got myself a tsunami chorus. not too bad, but cant use the ambience and chorus options simultaneously.
am i right to say that the ambience mode thickens the tone?
