Choosing an electric guitar

LTD, you mean. ESP's lower-cost brand. That's not a bad thing, though. Lot's of pros use the upper range LTDs and I'd say even the 50 series LTDs are pretty darn good for the money.

They ARE damn good, wanted to get it for my first guitar the F-50. It was going for 325. Wouldn't reccomeng the 10 series pack because it gives a shit bag, shit strap, and an even shitty amp. :P

Starter packs with a good amp? no doubt Craftsman, Line 6 yo!

Yeah, can't go wrong with a Line 6 amp that's for sure.

I think the Timbre sounds waaaaay better than the GRX150 IMHO. My vote's still with the Timbre. However, the Line 6 amp in the Craftsman package is a major bonus. The SD amp isn't ba per say but the Line 6 probably beats it anytime.

The Line 6 amps have modelling technology which allows them to have various tones and effects in a single amp. Very convenient. In that way, it's better than a typical solid-state amp (like the Sound Drive). The Sound Drive amp probably sounds good, I own a 10-watt combo, but the fact that it only has clean and dirty tones means that it's quite limited.

Oh well depends on your preference lah. For me when i was starting out, i wanted as many effects as possible, so i could experiment and have fun. But now, as my taste has mellowed, i'm an advocate of guitar through amp with minimal effects. Whether an amp is limited or not really depends on your personal preference.

truth be told, u cant buy a starter pack and expect to have a good sounding amp. the most u gonna get is a decent sounding amp. if starter packs came with good amps for cheap, who needs to buy those big expensive high wattage amps?? timbre sr200 does have a whammy bar but it is strictly one directional: down only. well come to think of it, so does the ibanez grx 150 lol. prob the only thing u might wanna consider when choosing between the 2 is "which pickup config suits u better".

when i started out, all i care is the guitar looks.
i gt a J&D les paul copy and a TGM amp (shop person give me discount if buy these 2 as a set)

bt oh my, the TGM amp is bad like *toot*.
so choose yr amp wisely.

Line 6 are great! but i prefer a Marshall.
you can try to buy 2nd hand stuff here.
most stuff softies sell here are still in great condition.

Haha perhaps. Altho it has to be said that Ibanez stock pickups, even in their non-GIO range, suck IMHO.

i've ppl buying the inf pickups from me lol from what i heard from the buyer it goes well with arias lol
but im slanting more to the "ibanez stock sux" side lol

My Ibanez Powersound pickups (even lower-end than INF pickups) are still sounding good and going strong after several years of usage. :) But my Ibanez is old. No modern Ibanez has impressed me, so I think I'd bypass that brand altogether. There're so many brands these days available to us that are more competitive in terms of pricing and quality, it's just a matter of whether we're willing to use lesser known brands.

The pickup is the "bar" with some round metal on it at the front of the guitar one right? What does a pickup do and what is a pickup config? How I know if it suits me?

Also, one directional whammy bar means I can only push the bar downwards to have that "whammy" sound and if I pull it up, it won't have that "un-whammy" back sound? Actually, I thought the whammy bar is fixed to the floating bridge where the bar could pivot the bridge to create the sound. This was how it was like on a guitar that I tried at my friend's house.
