Hi all,

Just wondering if you guys know the cheapest way of obtaining a EBMM Stingray. I'm looking at the regular Single Pickup, 4-String, 3-band EQ one.

I've never brought in anything from overseas before, so for those who ever did, please enlighten me about the prices over there. :D

Heard from friends that getting 2nd hand from talkbass or ishibashi U-Box are the cheapest ways, but I'm kinda worried about getting stuffs from overseas. Don't really know how as well. haha.

that said, please enlighten me~ Thanks alot people

Cheers,
DT

yup... these are the 2 most popular channels, but maybe u shd wait till the currency drops. the usd and yen exch rates are extremely high right now.

otherwise u can troll the buy/sell here and on www.luthermusic.com

alll the best!

usd is still not too bad, according to news reports, it will only get worse.

but yen is sky high now. you can rule that one out.

i've bought a bass from ishibashi and a preamp from ishibashi's u-box before. ishibashi is good, EMS shipping is awesome.

not trying to say anything bad, but just want to voice my comment on EBMM Stingray....

I used be saving up $$$ to buy a EBMM Stingray.... it's about $3K brand new here. And after about 1 year of savings (I have saved a significant lot in 1 year, enough to buy a few stingrays) but after that, I think i'm not going to buy one.

My reasoning is this: I'm just a hobbyist bassist, not pro, not playing to get paid. And a Stingray is pretty expensive by my standards - $3K.... that's a lot of money. And I think i could put this money to better use elsewhere, so after 1 year of savings i think i'm not going to spend it... just keep on saving.

By all means, this only applies to me, not saying that a hobbyist should not spend on a Stingray, only saying that I should not spend on it. I'm cool with what you or other people do with your own money :)

Hey guys,

Thanks for the replies. Much appreciated. :D

Yea, the prices of Stingrays in SG are way overpriced. I wonder why.
Now there's the economy going bonkers as well.

Resetti, thanks for your input man. Yea, i do agree with you to some extent. haha. The Stingray is kinda pricey. I'm not intending to get one so soon as well, just sourcing my options. :D But if you do get one, treat it as a long term investment maybe?? (actually it's just something to make yourself feel better after splurging 2k+++++++) haha

bro, if u dont mind 2nd hand, there is one musicman stingray 4 string bass selling for $1.7k on luthermusic classified.

there's alot in TB going for sale. Most around 1k USD --> 1.5k+ SGD w/o shipping

There are some really good ones, check it out.

whoaaaa~

ditto that Resetti. haha

now that's what i call looooooooooooooong-term investment.

thanks edyeo123, i saw that one as well. :D she's a beaut.

but then again, i don't wanna rush into anything yet. haha

maybe something better will pop up

different people will have different indifference to different things i.e. different folks have different strokes. it's a question of passion and desire, which cannot be rationalised nor quantified

while i would probably be happy with 1 SR, my happiness is not gonna increase with every subsequent SR i buy as much as the maniac who owns 4 (vintage) SRs

for all you know, he sleeps on the floor because the basses lie on his bed at night. considering all that, maybe 3k is not such a large sum after all

hahaha, sounds rather yoda-ish. but yea its true, nice way of comforting yourself after spending 3k++. lol

just think of rottenramone~!!:D

If you have the means to own a $3k bass, why not? Especially if you're a working adult. You can look at it this way:

Say this bass cost you $3k. Usually an item of such class can last you longer. Say you gonna play it for 5 years, that you do take care of it. After 5 years, the resale value dropped to $1.5k, which is a realistic figure. The depreciation of $1.5k over 5 years = $300 per year = $25 per month.

Just by looking at $25 per month, you'll know the satisfaction you get back by owning and playing such a good piece of instrument is worth your money. :)

Well, we don't need to be a pro to own/play a good and expensive gear.

Of course, in your quest for instruments, try not to get lost in GASing... ;)

as long as you can afford it and it makes you happy, anything goes i guess. nothing needs to be justified to anyone except yourself unless ur borrowing money for your gass...

that being said. i love my sr5, great company which make amazing instruments.
