i'm not a Roald Dahl fan, never read any of the author's books but i made it a point to watch this movie, which i must say was arguably impressive & enjoyable.
it's a pity that a Str Times columnist gave it a bland rating, owing to the lack of fantastic elements which should give this movie a more appealing output. however, the plot of this story made it rather restrictive in terms of appeal. nevertheless, technology played its part in making it more believeable but the whole point here isn't about silver screen pyrotechnics. charlie & the chocolate factory aims to deliver some serious ethical messages which are plain for all to see.
i encourage parents to watch this movie with their children in the hope that they will refine their ethics at the end of the show. for those who choose to eat popcorn excessively & give a loud, running commentary of the show, they should stay at home because there are other more suitable entertainment avenues for you.
