hey guys .. got a little prob now ..

im planning to either change the neck and bridge pickups on my current ibanez grx40. a beginner guitar .. or to get a new guitar

what u all tink ??

which shld i go for ?? pickups or guitar ?

go for a new guitar brother. get a workhorse guitar. theres a few which can match de price of changing pickups. pickups only affect abit of the sound.

if u love playing ur GRX then keep it and change the PUs.

it the GRX isn't what u're looking for in playability maybe u might want to consider buying a new guitar then.

Yeah i agree with thor.

Thats my 1st electric guitar actually. Its all up to you if you want to upgrade it, if you think that the newer guitar's feel is better or nicer, get the guitar man.

to be truthful .. i love the playability on my guitar but .. i dun quite like the name of it beinga beginner guitar .

been tinking of either dimarzio - chopper on neck and tone zone for bridge
duncan - hot rail on neck and duncan custom on bridge

what u all tink

Well... entry level stuff CAN sound good if done up properly... although the cost would likely be more than the original price of the guitar!

The only reasons I see for keeping your guitar is either for financial constrains or sentimental value. If you have no problems with finance, and you wouldn't mind getting rid of your GRX, then by all means, go for the new thing.

Anyway, a Chopper in neck... TZ in bridge... High output stuff... I presume you are into rock lah... GRXs are made of basswood right? The TZ will fatten the tone up and make the guitar chugga chugga and scream... and the Chopper will balance well with the TZ.
Don't know abt Duncans... ;)

yea. . more to rock / metal .. so the chopper and tone zone combi is gd ?? its more to sentimental lar i would say .. cos ah .. i love the feel on my guitar .. as long as it sounds great .. its ok man ..

so .. the combi will certainly improve the tone ?? by who much ah haha

very dangerous way of thinknig

So what if it's a beginner guitar?
If you play not like a beginner, nobody will care if it's a beginner guitar.
but no matter expensive guitar you are using, if you play like crap, you will still be a beginner to the audience.

lol dude who cares if it is a "newbie" guitar man.

imagine vai on stage with YOUR grx. what say u? :p

what about a 'lil 59 neck and JB neck. How will it sound on agathis guitar? Or will a epi gold top sound way better than those PUPs on the agathis?

true .. come to tink of it .. im wrong .. haha

so .. i will go for the PICKUPS way then .. dimarzios !! here i come ( as soon as i have the cash .haha)

any other gd combinations of single coil neck pickup and bridge humbucker pickup u all recommend ??

for rock /metal .. more to hard rock kinda stuff

Hard Rock/ Metal?

Dimarzio X2N in bridge. Tonezone S neck.

You will rock so bloody hard, you wouldn't notice how bad your neck aches from all that headbanging.

Heyyy..I'm actually somewhere near u also siva. I'm using my begineer guitar for 4 years already. Gotten really very used to it. I'm using the Gsa 60. I'm changing the pickups very soon but still in a dillemma.

I'm tot of going for Seymour duncan JB bridge(Hum) and Vintage Flat on the neck(single coil). I'm more into metal. Issit ok guys??? :D

just wondering, cause i have a GSA60 which i love very much as well, how much is a X2n or a JB?
thinking of changing the humbucker

Jb is 132 at www.gain10music.com . I'm not sure how much davis would be selling it wen they start selling it. Yamaha used to sell it at 126.75 according to Praetorian.

X2N i gots no idea. I'm not sure whether Swee lee has it or not. Havent really seen that item around..I saw the x2n at all music at parklane.Didnt check how much issit.
