Dunno if any of you have seen this video of Chad Smith and Travis Barker trying out the drums for the upcoming Guitar Hero game. They both give very positive comments.

You can watch it here.

Travis Barker says, "Especially on the expert levels of Guitar Hero, where you’re nailing every note for note, it’s absolutely like playing what the drummer in that band is playing.”

I'm so getting the game! Maybe then I don't have a buy a drumset... can just practse on this game! :P

Wow....looks really impressive. Especially the threshold of beating it seems to be able to withhold.

Must let me try when u get it ya??

Haha... sure thing! :) But I thought the "hi-hat" looked a bit flimsy, though.

Oh, and of course, the game set has fewer drums than most drummers are used to?

Looks fun!

I can never be any good in such games though. Eyes and hands coordination just cannot make it. Heck, even my non-drummer friends are heaps better than me in the Drummania game at the arcade lol.

haha..bro you'd better work on sight reading then. it's an important skill, just take basic drum scores and start from there..

Sight reading drum scores is just quite different from looking at bright things scrolling down on the game screen! lol. :p

I haven't played on Guitar Hero...but Rock Band on my friend's ps3 yes.

Its fun really! Played songs like Dani California ...Creep...haha.FUN! Note wise...its quite accurate...fills are yours to improvise!

The fills don't sound nice with only 4 stupid pads. Haha. Plus they're so short. Plus sometimes they come at weird times.

heh. hiaz. i have nv felt that such games will help us drummers. what you guys think. i wun slam the game cuz i have nv tried it. but i tried drum mania. the arcade version. i feel that it spoils people sense of timing. the reaction of the drums to us. like ok for example. you were supposed to hit when the droping bar touches the bar. you know but in actual fact to get the perfect you need to hit slightly before. yea thats what i feel. and the drum dynamics can you hear on this? i am a swa koo to such stuff prefer to stick to my acoustics.

BUT i would really like to try all this games they seem real fun. haha. mind boggling to see your own hand and eye coordination. haha interesting.

but one plus point this drum games have brought many many people to start to like drumming!

so yea rock on man!

anyway sheylara are you the one we see on MRT trains the ad like what xbox stuff? izzit you? haha

Haha, yes, that's me on the MRTs and buses, etc.

By the way, some of these music games are sometimes not very accurate in timing, like what you described (have to hit slightly before). But I find Rock Band and Guitar Hero to be pretty accurate.

You can play to the music based on your own sense of timing by listening to the music instead of concentrating on the notes. So, I don't think it will affect our drumming that much. :P

I AM so looking forward to RB2 and GHWT. Except that I don't even have time to practise real drums now, I probably won't have time to play the games, either. sigh.

Well, lemme say something about Drummania.

Basically, main thing it really trains are rhythm and probably abit on coordination(hands and legs). Other than that, nothing much except a pretty fun game to me. Yeah, you can't get any dynamics off it. Another thing is that it might screw up your strokes in the game, which is happening to me right now, trying to correct it, lol.
With regard to the "you were supposed to hit when, the droping bar touches the bar", not gonna happen when you're playing songs that is more advanced.
On a side note, I hate was the positioning of the hi hat, damn close to the snare in terms or height.

cool. yea drum mania does that to you. yea! the angles are screwed up.. terrible but it feels good to see people with the high high combos damn sweeee! hahaha. yea. but no harm playing that game for fun but yea. one word drummers you may be super good at drumming but may suck at drum mania. haha.

jimmy lee said beforre that he tried to play drum mania but screwed up. if thats what i rmbred correctly but yea i suck at drum mania. i wan try rock band but my friends that have ps3 have no interest in getting a drum kit or even in that game haha.

hey sheylara. cool to know that you have ur ad on mrts. damn interesting. haha wow. you are really involved in this gaming thing ar. and drummer too! PLUS ONE! haha ddrummer.!!! anyway your travis sticks are cool now. but when your pretty cymbals get stained by its white paint.. hmm i not so sure then.. happened to me. yea.

Ahh really? The white paint will rub off on the cymbals? Eew lol. Anyway I don't use it, it's too heavy for me. :P And I also don't have my own drum kit, so. :(

The Rock Band 2 drumpads look good man. Finally a game hardware designer who understands how a drumkit actually functions lol.

hey i always wondered is it possible to connect a elec drum to your ps3 or something. possible. if possible maybe in future i get a e kit. roland td series heh!!
