I say watch Rafael Moreira play his les paul and tell me you cant shred on one.

agreed, yes u can ram a LP at full throttle. this guys make it look easy -- Zakk Wylde, John Sykes, John Norum, Doug Aldrich, BucketHead and Al Dimeola (1980s releases, on an LP).

you can shred with anything. you could use an office shredder too (:

well its possible on an lp or any other guitar, just the amount of skill lah. and the complexity of doing it that particular guitar.

there are guitars built for shredding too (:

John Norum, Doug Aldrich and John Sykes are like the top few of my list for LP players who can rip on the mahogany behemoth! Occasionaly Alex Skolnick will favour a goldtop for tearing up the stage too

meant: made for, accustomed to.

in this case, no. but can you shred on a LP? definately so. eric johnson could shred on a vintage strat.

Paul,

Can you shred on your CIJ with 7.25 radius and vintage frets?

its gonna be a challenge I reckon.

yes it was initially, i needed to adapt to the frets, so used to the jumbo for over 12 years. 1 of my students is going to buy the 72' RI off me, anyway im hooked on the custom POT. Warpig humbuckers are a beast, in coil-tap mode it just sings. i love the flexibility, gets the job done on 1 axe.

Back to LPs, theres this all-black POT LP at Guitar77, tried it a few times now. excellent playability, cool stock pups, really smooth to shred on too. Hope its still there.

dude,strats are versatile,Malmsteen uses them :P

but yeah LP,just watch Zakk Wylde and Buckethead, damn shredders they are...but if u can shred,i guess u can do it on any guitar..just a matter of comfort i guess

ah u can even shred on an acoustic or classical. watch the flamenco players or tommy emmanuel tearing up on his acoustic. its just like AEnimic said, a matter of comfort but if ure a speedster it would just prob take a while to adapt to a certain guitar.
