Can we plug bass with a normal guitar amp???

Hey,can we plug our bass with a normal guitar amp??I'm using Yamaha GA 15 guitar amp...if we plug bass and play like electric guitar at a low volume,can it work??but if we put with a higher volume,will it blow up??

Any suggestions??? :lol:

hi iZZudin, i'm quite sure this topic has been addressed before, do search through the forums ya?

anyway, a simple rule of thumb is to keep everything as it is supposed to. i suggest you don't do that. you can but it's not healthy for the amp in the long run.

you can, but it will sound like shit. won't get the thumpy tone. maybe it's ok for a while, but after a long time the speaker will tear. unless you're a brainiac, try to avoid slapping real hard.. electronics of the amp will remain fine though.

i came across a guy who had been playing bass on a guitar amp for many years. appearently he wasn't aware of it till the day i saw his amp. :lol: the amp was still fine. only the speaker sounds a little broken. btw, his amp is 35w, so it's powerful enough to deliver the bass sound quite decently.

I once plugged a bass into a Vox AD30VT guitar amp b4. It sounded ok, though not thumping..I take care not to increase the volume..: P

yeah, cos it's been optimized for guitar frequencies that's why. haha ...

it's always good to keep things the way they are, anything works actually, you can torture any kind of devices the way they were NOT meant to be and it may work, it's just a matter of how long they will survive.

if you have to do it, keep the volume low, and lower the bass on the amp's equalisation to do as little damage to the amp and speaker cones as possible

im doing that now.. just that the sound not shiok like they say plus the sound cracks when i try to hit the low notes.

but to me the high notes seem to "sing" better.

haha.. mine is some lousy beat up 10w one.. no such problems there..
