To start off with, Matt Heafy's vocals weren't God-like to start off with. Below is an abstract of an interview done with Trivium guitarist Corey Beaulieu.
Well, it’s like Matt (Heafy, lead singer) started singing in the band and wasn’t a singer. There was no one else in the band at the time when he started singing to do it and have vocals in the song. He was young; he couldn’t sing very well. So he just screamed just so we had vocals. Then in the last year or two from touring and he’s been taking vocal lessons, he really developed his voice into a way where we could do something more than just scream. Screaming is so one-dimensional. Also doing that “Master of Puppets” song (from the Kerrang! [metal magazine] Remastered 20th anniversary tribute to Metallica album) and a little bit on Ascendancy, where you hear this mid-rangy, aggressive singing style, but it had melody and you could hear what he was saying.

I don't see why some of u have a problem with Trivium's vocals when the band accepts that they didn't have an Axl Rose to start off with. It (vox) may not be fantastic, but it's not awful either. Besides, these guys are technically brilliant, without which they wouldn't have made it this far. As for the likes of A7X as well, who have been receiving flak from self-proclaimed true rock (metal) fans of "selling-out" on their COE album.
If you want to bring down a band, prove to everyone else that you can do a better job than them. Don't make snide comments at bands when the best you can do is jam half-baked songs with your band, which you think is of a good standard when it's not.
