am thinking of getting a 2x12 cab for my pod xt live rather than always playing thru my com speakers. any recommendations? and any ideas what the price range is like? thanks!

is it for home practice? if it is then maybe u can get the mini marshall stack amp MR15 MSII

wattage of amps doesn't matter as long as its above 5 watts... max vol is still as loud... whats more, heard that those marshall stack amps sound bigger then they really are...

its $375 on luthers page i think

erm i dun think hes looking for an amp!? well u can go to davis to check out their marshall cabs. but im think the one that is there is only a 1x12.

the retail price for ibanez cabs is roughly abt 400..for (2*12)
the marshall at Davies abt 600++ cant remember if its 2*12 or 1*12..

there are also cheap 4*12 cabs
line 6, behringer and kustom cabs sub 600++ (dunno exactly the price)

im not too sure abt Laney..

check with brother Sub if he has other info..
pls call the respective dealer for accurate pricing..

oh btw alternatively u can just get a small combo amp to play with..or get a keyboard amp...or anyother flat response amp.

hmmm .. pardon my newbieness

i also use a podxt , if i put it thru a cabinet only .. it will be giving me the pure tone of my podxt rite?

wats the diff between going thru the efx loop of an amp ?

In order to amplify the cabinets u need a power amplifier, in this case the pod xt or any pre-amp modelling dont really have much of that to drive the speakers.

So the solution is to just get a power amp only combo amp like the Sansamp Power Engine 60 or if u have the means to buy online, get the Atomic Amps, which is an all tube power amp combo.. I hope u guys get what I mean...

power amp = smth like wat neil zaza uses ? the cpu like thing ? that is like opened up ?

i noe that adrian smith and dave murray have marshall power amps ah .. hmm .. wat is a power amp actually ?? is it an amp or wat ?

Here's a lil layman idea...

A poweramp is what amplifies a signal to something powerful enough to push speakers.

A preamp is what comes before (pre) the poweramp. This is wat converts ur weak guitar signal into something powerful enough to push a poweramp. This is where ur tone shaping comes in.

A cabinet is, well, a box with speakers :)

A head is a preamp + poweramp built into a box

A combo is a preamp + poweramp + cabinet built into a box

ooo ..icic .. haha..

tt worked really well man ! really easy to understand !

btw .. im the guy that email u on the pickups .haa

I got my Behringer 4X12 fro only s$369 plus delivery. It comes with their Bugera peakers which r modelled after the Celestion V30s. Well, i have not heard V30s b4, but these cabs r excellent in their price range.

The built is great, so when u crank ur amp, it doesnt buzz due to poor joints or construction. The speakers need to breakin to sound gd... I had it for like 2-3 weeks, n the thing sounded awful, "like i shld have known its a behringer." But after 1 mth, the speakers souned nice, great sparkle on clean, n dirty. Not as warm tho... Only thing it lacks the ultra lows it u wanna knock in some drop tuning. But it can do lows well enuff (Hey im using a bassman), ultra lows maybe not.

But dude its so cheap. I heard a marshall 4X12 b4 n i tot it sounded muddy on dirt.

Smarvo cabs r also 300-400+

But i guess u need a power amp for in ur case

Oh btw, do pay attention to the impedance of the cabs if u plan to buy a tube amp

I contacted the Behringer office, and they say they dont do retail... But they gave me a contact that does it local.

Will PM u on it

woah, sorry for the late response. thanks all for the replies!

yep just realized am gonna need a power amp too, so that kinda blows the budget for me. saw the marshall 1936 cabs going at davis for like $640. looks sweet. 2 x 12. maybe some day. the way it looks to me, might as well, try for a combo amp after all. haha. guess best to save up a bit more.

sub, thanks for the alternate idea. will look into it. wish i can bring my pod xt down and plug in and try...then again...hmm...why not..? heh.

the power engine suggestion is good too...lemme check price...hope not too exp..

combo amp..get those with 2*12cabs with effects loop..
cost somewhere ard 400++......

although im using are pre/power set up..
i would prefer getting something like a laney head to go with the pod..

and run the cabs in dual mono. a wet dry approach..
but money is the problem :)

Weiht nice info man...any chance i can test the cab...???

Hmmm, i actually bought without testing them, cuz for me it was no much of a choice. My amp needed 4 ohm, and this was the only model i found with matching impedance. MOst nowadays have 8 or 16 ohms...

When i contact the company, they had to order the cab from overseas, so no chance to test.

But my pt of view was, its only $369, im desperate for a matching cab, n if i dont like it., i can always sell it n not lose alot.

If u interested, u can bring ur head to test at CCK... lol

BTW, mine is the BG412V...

Smarvos also have cabs at 300-400+ range, but not too sure abt the quality... Anyone tested?
