Hey guys I tried some Arch Enemy in C tuning on 9s and it seems to be harder to tune compared to standard tuning. The sound also changes alittle; sounds weaker i think. Is it due to the strings?

Standard C i think, C F A# D# G C
Does that mean I have to use thicker strings to play standard C? Or does my guitar suck ><

im on 10s yet it feels too lose for my liking in drop C...

i tink i shud use .12?

den cannot tune to standard tuning.if not..can forget about bends and vibratos oredi.

oh yeah i think, for such a great downtune (2 whole steps), u should have a guitar just for it, and use a .12 or something like that

if u only have one guitar and still plan on doing a drop C, well .10s are ur best bet, beats 09s, but it still be very loose...

u know what? haha just get a 7-string and capo the 1st fret... there u go! real C! haha

having 12s and being able to tune at standard and drop C wont be easy either.
constant change in tension might result in string breakage.

arch enemy

i tried the c tuning before and wow my 6th string was damn wabbly and when i palmed muted the last string and tried some chugga didnt even sounded like music haha.
so i guess for this kind of tuning you really need a heavy gauge.try zakk wyldes signature strings.

What is the optimun gauge for C tuning that will make it fell as if it was 10s on normal tuning? I hate maths and physics. a wild guess would be 13s?

i use drop c..and i use 10/52..quite loose but i get use to it..i use it on drop d and drop c..13s..how thick is dat..does it easy to make the strings more easily to break or not??

i used to use 13s in my old band when we played some KoRn stuff on B tuning, sometimes A depending on the mood. if you like 10s on normal tuning try 12s on C.

Standard D sounds cool, but in a band context, standard D means bassist and other guitarist also have to be in standard D. Lagi best if guitar is of the floating bridge type. Once set up to gauge 12s at standard D means, guage 12s at standard D for a very long time.

Plus a 21-fret guitar, highest note in standard D would be B as compared to the highest note on a 24-fret guitar, E. Can't jam with someone else with standard tuning if those notes were used. =/ Full of problems if someone only has 1 guitar.
