Hi all, I know all you softies are very knowledgable, helpful and well-versed in music so maybe you guys might know of any underground Chinese ROCK band in Asia. If possible, maybe you guys may wanna include their websites and how we can get a demo of their songs. I know there must be lots of incredible bands out there playing good music but just failed to get to our ears and I lament for this loss. Coz I myself had never heard a single song from them and this pure excitment is running through my veins... I greatly appreciate for your efforts... :)

D*mn sick and tired of 93.3...

There are lotsa great Chinese rock/punk/metal bands in Asia...Besides China punk bands like Brain Failure and Reflector which are my all time fave...There's also bands in China like 69, Yaksa, CMCB, Silver Ash, Twisted Machine, Jerks, Ritual Day, SMZB etc...I have most of their CDs and MVs...

As for Taiwan, you can check out these metal bands like Chthonic http://chthonic.org, Lamentation, Seraphim etc...Rap-rock bands like XL, Monkey Insane http://www.monkeyinsane.com etc...More alternative one will be Tizzy Bac http://www.tizzybac.com.tw...

Hong Kong will definately be Hardcore band King LyChee, Departing Cross, Black Wine, Tatflip...check-out King LyChee website for more Hong Kong underground bands under the link section at http://www.kinglychee.com/links.htm

Malaysia bands like Lang and Uglymen.

imo, Monkey Insane is just a korn wannabe. I hear ripoffs in their songs.

For Hongkong bands, don't forget old birds like Anodize, still good stuff despite no longer active/around. Paul Wong (Beyond) had his own band called Sweat, although I'm not sure if it is still around. If you like Candy Lo, you can checkout her old band Black & Blue. One of their hit songs was called Trash.

Taiwan, you have hillbilly rock like 雞 腿 飯 (Chicken Drumstick Rice),
retro rock like 旺 福 (Wonfu), Alternative rock like 1976, and heavier stuff like 四 分 衛 (Quarterback). Pop punk we have Tolaku (not sure if they are still active). All girl Punk like 壞 女 兒 (Bad Daughter). If you suddenly crave for Hip Hop (not the gay chou crap), they offer MC Hotdog and MC Dua Ki

wah, if ya gg China, then buy tons of shit from there man..... they have great stuff and its very reasonably priced

Look under labels like Scream Records.

To add to all the above recommendations:

Cold Blooded Animal and Thin Man (China). Wang Feng is pretty good for light easy gg stuff. Flying Generation is quite alrite.

The CD shop at Shaw Towers 2nd Floor has stocks of China and taiwan rock if ya interested. Cheers.

Wah~~~~ that's a lot of bands u guys know... Its gonna keep me busy for a while just to check out all of them... :) Btw out of all those bands mentioned, I saw Tolaku and Chicken Rice on tv before... Chicken Rice was with Fan Xiao Xuan, haha... They're a "fun" band. If only Wang Jie go form a band  ... power~~

If you would like to listen to some local stuffs, I can recommend you Mouse Records compilation like "Sound Detour", "InSound" or like Chou Pi Jiang album "In Da Voice Of Chou Pi Jiang" and their EP "Chou Pi Jiang". Some self released EP like LGF EP "Kero Kero" http://lgf.loversoul.com and Tiet EP which you can email Tiet at studio@tiet.sg. One of the better EP i heard so far will be Hysteria "Hallucination" which you can get at Edward Music at Shaw Tower 2nd Floor where you also can find many China and Taiwan underground bands CD there.

ah Hysteria, aint they a J-rockish local band in the 90s?

not to forget Heaven & Earth, the Anodizish local band.

Yup...They influenced by J-Rock bands but not in visual form but musicially...Heaven & Earth has one EP as well and 2 years ago they have recorded the 2nd EP but did not release it...Sad...But both bands do featured in a Chinese Rock compilation titled "给我摇滚风" (Give Me Rock Fever) features bands like Vinyl, Lighthouse, Helistone, Zhen Shi, Hysteria, San Bu Guan, Music Garden, Hei Ying, Zone and V's. The compilation was released in 2000. Maybe you still can find it at Heeren's HMV.

Banzai, Chinese ROck!!!!!

I listened to the demos. I'd say u guys put in a lot of effort in making your songs and the desire to sound different. Good vocal but I find he lacks a punch. Voice not heavy enough in most areas which leads to a lack of feel in the songs.I particularly like "Quan Qiu Hua Zuo Guai" {The Act of Globalisation (Hope I translated it correctly)} coz its a 'fun' song which I feel is the essence of Rock n Roll. The lyrics are funny man... It mentioned msn, MM, and I like the 'feel' part the most. Can't stop laughing each time I listened to the song...

LGF is good... Went to their gig once at the speaker's corner. The female vox was telling the audience to come closer but all disregard her. But just my humble opinion I feel that their music don't really fit the vocal. The vocalist's voice is soft, belonging to a more studio type of voice but the music was heavier... Maybe in future they can balance this out... Just my 2 cents... :) Btw, any idea how I can get a demo of Hysteria?

Also I've heard of this band call Tian Di Hui (Heaven and Earth Society) from my vocalist. Is it the same as the Heaven and Earth band u guys are talking about?

You can get Hysteria EP at Edward Music, Shaw Tower 2nd Floor...Yes..Tian Di Hui is Heaven & Earth...

Thanks for ur comments, we did the demo within a months time after the band was formed with limited budget therefor not that solid. Quan qiu hua i translated is as "globalisations mischieve " :P We made a major facelift on the arrangement now with heavier riffs and sounded less funky. It pictures the gestures of people degrading each other simply because of thier dif background, influences and disregarding what they had in commoninstead where they are in the same country, society. Glad u enjoyed it :)

Yeah...I am heavily influenced by China Punk/Metal bands...And my god...you gonna watch Miserable Faith? How I wish I can take leave and buy air tickets to go with you...I just love the scene and gigs there...At last I have found someone who into China Underground scene..haha...But sadly, I can't form a band to play stuffs like Brain Failure or Miserable Faith...Most of the Chinese rockers here all into Beyond and Mayday only... :(
