Hi sofies,

I am purchasing an e-drum set online,
this is my first time buying stuffs online,

here are my doubts,

how to know if its not a scam?

i found the article at sheryna.sg

i have been exchanging emails to the guy,
located at Kedah, total price is sgd986 including shipment.
He had given me a proforma Invoice, with the company name and address, and all my
details given,
Co. name is "specialized electronics services Ltd"

Mode of payment, is by bank account transfer through Maybank,
need to bank in first, get the receipt, sign the invoice and attatched it to him thru email.
and the shipment will be processed and arriving in 2 days time.

can anyone give me some knowledge or advices... thank you.

When buyin online, your safest bet to know if its safe is by buying through trustable sites. Another important thing to do is to read conments & reviews on the websites left by previous buyers.

If you can't find anything on these, then it's your call to make whether you wanna take the risk at it.

Ya true. Come to think of it, bank transfer sounds fishy.

When I buy stuff online, it's usually through credit card.

For that amount of money why not COD
Do self collection,
Music equipment in malaysia are more expensive than singapore
If it is too cheap it is a scam

thanks for the input guys.

i guess im not buying it thru that seller.

1. he told me that it is a company based in the UK but they have a branch in malaysia, he gave me the co. registration number, i googled the company, it is based in the UK, and it does home appliances repair and garden equipments.
2. the email address name is a chinese guy, the invoice states the sales manager which is a malay name, but the guy called me and he doesnt sound local, infact he sound nigerian-ish.
3. i googled, there is no proof of any transactions made by other internet users.
4. i asked for photos or website of the company, he told me the website is down for updates and he didnt give me any websites.

so yea, high chance its a scam.

Sounds odd to me. I wouldn't outright call it a scam since we don't know the full story but what I would be 'safe' to assume would be that the deal sounds a little odd for you to proceed.

Anyway, you did the right thing. Better to miss out on this than to pay and realised that you might have made a fatal mistake.

Sounds fishy just reading it.

Never use bank transfers to pay for stuff online unless its proven to be trusted. With a credit card or through a payment services company like PayPal, at least you can raise a dispute should there be any problem with the goods involved.
