Buying Guitars - Getting help from the Shop

When you are looking for gear remember to ask the people in the shop to help expalin why one guitar is better/more expensive than the other. The guitar stores are paid to help you out so make them earn their money. I have been told, and believe, that Swee Lee will now set up a guitar for you when you buy it. These services will not exist if you, the client does not ask/demand it. Complaining on the forums will achieve little but making youy feel better.

The aim of the foums is for everyone to offer help, not just the so-called 'gurus'. Everyone's experience is useful to the scene as a whole.

Remember that the advice offered by the people on furms is just that - advice. They don't know what your playing style is and what you are looking for in your equipment. If you want better help, then give more information when you are asking and, if possible, tell people what gear you have tried and why you like/dislike it.

In the end if we believe that we are all part of the music scene in Singapore then we should all help to make the scene, musicians and music shops included, improve.

cheers,

Mark.

Mark,

It'll all depends on which shop you go to and which sales person you're talking to. Not just because they're paid to do so therefore they're able to do so.

Some shops are blessed with competant tech with sound knowledge of gear and some not.

Cheers,

Edwin

p/s No hidden agendas here... I've long been out of instrument rewiring business. hur hur hur...

Eddeer, the point is that the scene will not change unless it is driven by the customer or the shop or ,best of all, both of them.

I'm out of here soon anyway, so these are my last salvos. Enjoy them.

cheers,

Mark.
