I'll be getting a flat soon. Intending to build a simple home recording/studio. Any ideas anyone?

what kind of recording would you be doing? live instrument? drums?

most important question - "Where is your new place?"

hey man, sorry to invade this thread, but i'm also interested in setting up a small home recording studio for guitars, bass, vocals and drums. was wondering what the setup is like. like is it better to amp->mic->mixer->computer or amp->mixer->computer or amp->computer or whatever other combination is best im not too sure. also, what are the necessary equipment needed for a simple home studio. nothing too professional but not too basic either. sound quality's important to me. like how'd you improve sound quality and all, and what are some of the good software to use?

I'm gonna invade this thread as well, sorry folks!

With regards to the sound proofing in a home recording studio, who's good in the business?

I'm actually wondering abt the same thing too. Soundproofing.

Intending to rent a small shophouse/warehouse space for a practice space (shared by a few bands) but wonder if it's possible to actually DIY. And how much will it cost.

Im looking out for advice regarding the materials. etc which can be obtained easily locally. Or any extra DIY pointers to look out for. Most likely a mini jamming room good enough to do recording. (voice, acoustic guitar etc).

Sry is me again to post msg. I actually need help with the same questions as u guys how to setup a basic home band recording studio. As james mentioned u need 8 mic i/p which is true. But if u use a digital drumset u might need to use 1 mic input will do(budget budget method). The enquiry i want to know is what card i want to use for recording if i got 8 i/p? I am using audacity(free) to record individual track. Do i need 8 o/p as well for recording 8 different tracks? Sry if i ask stupid questions. I not very sure abt things here. Pls help, thanks :)
