BOSS DS-2

I have been browsing the forums, in hope to find some discussions on boss ds-2, but then most of them have talks about ds-1, not ds-2. Was wondering whether even anyone uses ds-2 here. I got mine quite some time ago, and only to start playing around with it recently(yes I know it is weird), to my dismay, the sound wasn't really that good at all, I wish that it was better and could offer me a more clean and heavy tone. Oh yea, i heard running it through a practice amp does not sound good? Experts here!! Give me some ideas and your views man, will sending it for mod improve it at all? Or should I just stop wasting my time and get a ds-1? Thanks.

that's why more ppl talk about ds1 hehe. but i havent tried both yet, as i heard from the samples, and it wasnt my type

Then maybe a purchase for a DS-1 would be better...

ds-2 is actually a good pedal provided u have a gd amp. Better if u have les paul type guits. turn uo the base and voila ok tone

Wouldn't a good pedal and a good amp give you good tone and not ok tone?

Good drive pedals sound okay to good already thru a practice amp, usually makes you want to use the pedal for drive more than the amp. Then the good drive pedals sound spectacular thru a good amp.

having a good amp is the first essential step to having great tones. effect pedals are there to spice things up more.

IC. I run the DS-2 through a cube 30, i even think that the build in distortion sounds better than the DS-2 itself!! I wonder whether my pedal is spoilt or what, my turbo I seems to be there for show only, practically bullshit comes through the speakers. :twisted:

Then maybe you can sell me your DS-2. I'll see what i can to with it.

Or I've got a DS-1 with the SEM mod, and work out a nice trade/top up.

you should try stuff from Tech 21 .. or maybe amt electronics.. they have some neat distortion units. =)
