As mentioned above..juz wanna noe wads the differences between them..in terms of the tone produced n etc etc..thanks softies!!xDD

Hmmm....this has been a classic debate in guitar forums for the longest time IMO.So to me to sum it up its all about sustain.....and has to do with wood too as most maple necks are bolt on but still depend on guitar manufacturer...

It is typically easier to reach for the 21st fret to the 24th fret on a neck through as compared to a typicl blot-and-plate config.

i thinks it better to compare between bolt-on and set-neck and not bolt-on and neck-thru.

to topic:neck thru is good for fret access while bolt-on is good for smashing the hell out of the guitar which makes replacements look easy.thats what i think.but a neck-thru doesnt entirely beats a bolt-on by feel.ibanez got good feel for bolt-on.some esp looks dodgy with neck-thru.

Shouldn't be a difference in sustain if the bolt on neck is attached as tightly to the body as a good set in neck. The timbre of the note will differ due to the presence of the bolts/screws. It's like replacing wood with metal studs in the neck joint of the guitar which is a critical area.

I think the difference is caused by the neck's wood material actually being in the middle of the body of the guitar. That means the pups are "on" the neck and so is the bridge.
