blues driver and tube driver

hi people, what's the diff between blues driver and tube driver? which one would u guys recommend for an eric johnson tone, i know that one pedal wouldnt make u get eric johnson tone immediately, but which pedals (besides blues driver and tube driver) would get me a tone close to his?

tube driver as in his BK butler one? i dont think he uses that much now. now the pedal he puts on the brick is a TS808 or 9. he also uses a maestro echoplex, fuzz face from dallas arbiter i believe, probably with bc108s, TCE chorus, not sure what other effects he uses. probably his amp(plexi?) and fingers are more important than his effects though. he even uses a certain brand of battery for his pedals.

yeah i know he likes his pedal's battery to be half dead. he likes the sound.

according to fulltone's site he uses a 70 or 69 from them too. doubt he uses germanium transistors since he probably can hear temperature too.

the dallas arbiter ones are long out of production i think. now dunlop makes them but word on other forums is that they suck. could always go with a analogman sunface or fulltone 69/70. both brands have Si and Ge versions too. BYOC also has the ultimate fuzz which is similar, with either bc108s or ac127s i think. i read he even tests the batteries for their current and voltage before using them.

you can never get near the eric johnson tone, we know too well that he is a tone conscious person but fuzz type drive units will get you a close replica more than any others.

i've tried both (i own the little big muff), i hear a more appealing midrange definition coming from the Little BM. to many it's marginal but it matters to me. however, after trying the russian version, the midrange definition seems to be more acute- just have to own that one too...

yes, the Big Muff is a fuzz type drive, one of the better ones out there.
