Blackheart Little Giant & Killer Ant

Hi guys, need some info here,

Firstly, im wanting to get either one of the blackheart amps but after looking it up on google, 5 watt is too loud for home use. i dont see a 'Drive' or a 'Gain' knob on either amps, so there isnt any distortion on it? and about connecting it to the cab, will the Killer Ant work good with the 1 x 12 cab offered by blackheart? on their website its stated that its specially made for the BH5H, so does this mean i wont work 'greatly' with the Killer Ant?

i own the Killer Ant, together with some other amps you see here:

regardless of the wattage on offer, if it's too loud for you, then it's too loud. my Killer Ant is attached to a 4x12 cab- it's very loud, works fine with no anomalies... manufacturers would advocate players use their amp heads with their cabs but one can actually opt for others.

Hi Sub, does it have gain? can it do high gain stuff while being boosted with a TS7 sort of pedal?

having decided to buy this amp would mean you have resigned to using pedals to address your drive/ distortion needs. if you do own such pedals, especially the one you love deeply, this amp would help properl that tone

by turning the voulme to full, do you get a moderate crunch/gain level from it?

right- the Killer Ant is a clean agent, turning up the volume won't churn out drive per se but you can hear drive coming from some cabs- dependent on the speaker, of course.

Oh, so thats a no for me, about the BH5H, i believe it does have gain right? how do i activate this?
i am hoping to get my main gain from the amp itself.

what kind of gain do you seek? high gain?

Yes, High gain with the help of a TS7 or if not maybe a strong overdrive pedal.

heh, post some example clips of the high gain you seek, either from youtube video of others/rockstar sites etc.

The idea of high gain, in words alone and dependng on individual, often are not the same. So if wanna a more accurate reflection/recommendation, post some reference clips from youtube or any other sources.

hehe, last thing wanna, is to spend money based on others recommendation of high gain ok amp to realised at home that it aint high gain enough..

the little giant does not have high gain nor does it have a gain switch or anything like that. it jus breaks up into a kind of mild overdrive as u crank it up. i drive it with a metal monster to get high gain.

High gain as in the Mesa Mark IV, can do Metallica stuff, and maybe get close to a plexi too for my punk playing. sorry, if im really asking for much, because my budget is keeping me as well as for the volume, basically gonna get this for home playing.

I doubt they would provide a good drive, as subversion stated earlier, you will need distortion pedals to accompany this amp to get the tones you seek. You should look for a different amp, something that has a Gain/Drive control. Or one with a Master Volume control whereby you can crank the channel volume and lower the Master Volume to get your nice saturated tube crunch, at lower volumes. Hope that helped!

Okay, im getting the BH5H Half stack soon, and its probably going to be too loud too be cranked up at full volume, im already going deaf with my orange micro crush 3 watt amp on 1/2 volume, is there any other way to get it cranked at a low volume? other than getting that power anttenatuer or however you spell it because getting one would cost me freakin 500bucks. way over my budget for a new sound system.

help will be much appreciated.

Bumb, anyway, how much would a power ''attenateur'' cost? and how loud is the bh5h exaxtly? volume 3 on the fender frontman 15 is loud for me. i mean as in bedroom practive volume. is it way louder?

so wait, u wanna get an amp which has only powertube distortion which will not suit what ure looking for, then ure gonna use pedals for it and u wanna crank it for? seems like u havent even grasped the idea of what kinda amp the blackheart is.

u want high gain, get yourself a nice big recto or something. if u want high gain at low volumes, u would be better off with a pedal, even the attenuator will not lower the volume enough to play in the wee hrs of the morning, it just makes the volume bearable for playing in a small room.

the blackheart amps strike me as an old sch amp, the kind where vol and gain go hand in hand, the more gain u want, the more u have to crank. and mind u, theres still not much gain to be had, it wont walk the modern drive territory.
