Black Sabbath!!

I actually wanted to make a poll, but can't figure out. anyway...

Was looking through some black sabbath videos on youtube. I compared the Black sabbath w/ ozzy and the black sabbath w/ Dio. and I had this very strong feeling; how i wish the original black sabbath lineup was still active.

Any1 else feels the same way? Which would you prefer? Ozzy vs. Dio?

Both eras are awesome. Just that the Dio era, as powerful as it was, just lacks the feeling that Ozzy brought. With Ozzy, it just felt abit more lighter...when it was Dio, things started to sound too serious.

But heck Black Sabbath is awesome as long as Tony is behind it!

i feel dio is... kinda..... dragonforce-ish. (for the lack of a better word)

I only got into Sabbath when "Heaven and Hell" came out 'cos Dio is one of my all-time favourite rock singers.
But after I heard Ozzy's his live album, "Speak of The Devil" I began to listen to the older Sabbath stuff, which I found a little more complex compared to the straight-ahead Dio songs.
As a result, I kinda appreciate the Ozzy-era songs more than the Dio-era ones, even though Ozzy's voice doesn't rock my socks and the albums don't sound as 'modern' as the Dio ones.
Heck, Tony Martin is one hell of a singer as well.
Black Sabath will still be awesome with any of those 3 singers.

I didn't think Dio fitted in with the rest though, I still prefer Ozzy, but Dio has one of the best vocals around.

like everyone has said, both vox has their pros and cons.

i first heard Black Sabbath with Ozzy. The Paranoid album. was truly blown away at how stoned it is. and after listening to Dio's albums with Black Sabbath, in particular Heaven and Hell, i have come to the conclusion that they are two significant eras of Black Sabbath. Ozzy brings about a more stoned element whereas Dio brings about a more mythical element to their music.

but because Ozzy is the original singer and the ultimate voice to their brand of stoner rock, Ozzy gets my vote.

Dio's cool too.

I think Ozzy's vocals gave Sabbath a unique element in terms of the band sound. He's a tad underrated IMO.

Dio has a very classic style of vocals, which has the 80s vibe to it, but still have a certain style that stands out on his own.

But yeah, Ozzy gets my vote. Without him there won't be Ozzfest! \m/

I'm a big doom and Sabbath fan.. Both Dio and Ozzy has their own unique vocals.. There's no one in the world that can copy Ozzy's voice, which makes the early Sabbath a prominent traditional doom sound..

Ozzy = rock junkie long hair headbang metal vocals
Dio = swings hair back and shreds furiously vocals

ian gillan was a former Black Sabbath vox too..but fans always acknowledged Ozzy and Dio
both singers are unique but to me..Black Sabbath was Iommi..whoever sang the songs,fronting the band was good but the riffs of mr frank anthony iommi is and always been the heart and soul of the band

dio takes the prize for me...he has a great voice...everytime he sings, its like he is trying to scare you into believing that what he is singing about it real...like in lady evil...damn shiok...

ozzy has a naturally distinctive voice, but he isnt that great vocally, and he is not consistent as well...
