Bigsby installation tips?

Hey guys. Anyone out there done any Bigsby installations? I'm thinking of throwing one on my SG... getting a bit paranoid of bending the neck whenever i want to do downward pitch bends

Specifically i'm wondering if you really need to install the bigsby roller bridge in addition to the trem tailpiece. I'm using graph tech saddles so they shouldn't chew up my strings *too* much. Any advice people?

I have a bigsby installed on my Aria Les Paul, had GC do it for me. Stock bridge pieces, so far, the strings haven't snapped even after a relatively vigourous whammy workout.
