Big problem with my Desktop. Please help!! :(

Ok guys please do help me. I'll try to explain my problem as detailed as possible. Thanks.

I reformated my com (ACER). It is fast when it isn't connected to the internet. I reformated a total of 5 times. (trust me, its a b**ch).

Everytime time theres problem, but this type the problem aint that big, at least i can come soft.com.sg! (Thank god).

1st attempt = massive lag. install ISP, cant go any webpage.

same went for 2nd bla bla till now.

I can come online, can go different webpages, but the problem is i can't go MSN, can't go other programs and so on. When i on my MSN, it hangs there while loading the "Display picture". When ONE program hangs, i try opening MY COMPUTER, it takes like 10 mins to get its a5s to the screen.

Sick of reformating. Its really sh*t. I downloaded ad-aware, spybot, norton, all those to "clean up my REFORMATED com". Still no use. PLease any computer experts...!!!

oh and, i cant update windows, im still on service pack 1 but i cant update. i go to their webpage, it says got error occur and cant display the stuffs i needa install. panick!!! someone help please.

Relax. Sleep on the problem. Give it time and think about it. It may be more efficient to take it to a tech, especially since you are having so much trouble DIYing.

Im up the whole night figuring why is it like this man. Before i reformat it, its just plain "normal lag" due to those uncleared spywares and so on.


i reformat also because too many things. but it turned out to be even more lag. sigh. anyoneeeee. i cant sleeeeeep =(

Some spywares are known to escape quick reformat. Did you do full format?

whats the diff? all my files are gone from the com. except those new installed ones.

its really massive lag now, cant even ctrl alt delete. it only pops up after say, 10 mins? same goes for others, say when i installing a plug in, if i open other programs, it will like hang there, 10 mins later pop up. just like my current browser -.-


i cant seem to know whats the problem.. my com is.. 2.5 GHz, 512ram. cant be this lag right? =( ahhhhh

Sounds like a software issue.

In a quick format, the files are not totally gone. Even in a full format, files are still there. But it shouldn't affect much.

OK. Perhaps one last reformat. This time, make sure every partition is formatted and don't use quick format. Install Windows, then basic drivers (forget about printer etc). If you can activate Windows over the internet, then your internet should be working, somewhat. Then update your Windows. Don't install any other programs yet. Leave it clean. See if everything works.

Check internet connection. If your ISP/modem has problems and you're connected to internet, it may sometimes cause problems. Try disconnecting from internet (unplug your broadband) and see if Windows work without any lag.

Check your device manager and see if all your hardware is working.

If all else fails, bring it to Acer.

The reformat process is auto.. Just put in the disk and i keep "Ok" and follow the instruction... The partition... its done automatically also. As for the drivers, they install once the files are cleared...


How do you do the long way? I only got the 2 disk. Aka disk 1 and 2.
