Hi.

i'm looking for my very 1st drumset n i hav trouble between choosing this 2.

my frens suggest i get a rythem traveller due to hse space. but some also suggest getting a stage star.

well my budget is not really high n i don't hav much space in my hse. most likely i'll b using e drumset more for practice.

Any suggestions?

Hey there, I'm actually considering selling my Pearl RT, and changing to a Stagestar soon.

I can't really say one is better than the other, it really depends what your needs are.

When I got the RT, I didn't wanna spend too much on new drumheads. I was more concerned about being able to practice on a kit, than nitpick about the tone. I also wanted to save as much space as I could... which is why I got an RT, and it has served those needs 110%.

Now, it's been almost a year, and I think I want to experiment with more tuning options (2 heads instead of the RT's batter-only design). I'm also interested in trying out a different BD size.

From the sounds of it, I'd recommend the Pearl RT. If you can find one in good condition, and you take care of it, it'll retain it's value pretty well.

If you're interested in mine, drop me a PM and let's see if we can work something out. :)

I think getting a StageStar is better, if you don't need to save space, because it has more of a tone compared to RT. Better than getting something with good tone rather than decide to sell your RT to get a drumset with better tone. RT in my opinion is more for people who have limited space...

well but hw abt e hardware wise? well i've seen e tama stage star hat stand etc... looks abit flimsy though...

i'm not too sure abt e pearl RT

I've got both in my house now, and I can tell you, the hardware that comes with the Pearl RT is definitely more solid. After using the RT for a year, I can feel the difference with the SS hardware. Not that the SS hardware is bad, but if you're comparing with RT hardware, the latter wins.

i hav decided i will not get either of this lol

1stly e stage star only choice would b a 2nd hand set
2ndly e RT is not worth e cost of $700
3rdly i hav decided to get e mapex Q series

so ya people out there forget abt e RT unless ur really desperate for a kit tts silent or u hav space constains. but for the price n if u hav space get other sets out there man

Oooh, no wonder you asked me about the RT today. :)

But I think you are right for all the three points you posted. Enjoy the Mapex set. Good choice indeed!

haha killerbee i think if e mapex came out sooner u would hav gotten e mapex n not e RT eh haha!
well but i presume e RT has served ur needs!
rock on babe. TOMAS LANG WITH LONG HAIR ^_^

eh kahuna i no longer hav to buy a set n chase e shells anymore haha!
rock on for ur drumming

speaking of which i went over to e music lab e other day n tested out e mapex QR. it sounded pretty loud in e studio. haha i'm abit worried abt having it in my HDB flat haha!

but it didn't sound really well tune. did u tune it alvin? haha
