hey guys, i was thinking of getting the Beta Alvin Hm-200.
i wanna know, issit good enough to handle the heavy distortion sounds of bands like avenged sevenfold, bullet for my valentine? :) :)

well from what i know from avenged sevenfold concerts, their distortion is quite dry and high gain. but the beta alvin hm200 gives quite a thick metallica sound. for bfmv, im not too sure.

Hey there, you might want to check out my previous thread about the HM-200 and other distortion pedals for metal here.Hope it helps :)

I own one, and I use it for a lot of stuff, including Avenged Sevenfold, My Chemical Romance and Bon Jovi, and I can do death metal with it, no problem. It's a very powerful pedal but it's also extremely versatile. Should be able to cover your needs.

At a jamming session, my bandmate told me that my HM-200 is perfect for Metallica. It has that tight high gain sound, but it really thickens up when you increase the mids. When you decrease the mids to about maybe 3/10 or so, it's a death metal, heavily-scooped kinda tone. But I think the highlight of this pedal is that it's aimed at Metallica's tone.

if what eugene said is right, it's the perfect pedal for me. i cover metallica alot and i need a versatile main drive. and it's affordable! heehee. but missed the standard value year end sale. boohoo. gonna try this pedal tmr. 1st on my list. then biyang od 7...blablabla...

Oh man, a metal that can actually make the metallica tone.....

wait.....

Pre-Black Album or Post?

and how much is the retail price?

AEnimic: nono, its James's tone or Kirk's tone. heheheheh

it sells for $85 i think. gonna try it tmr and some biyang pedals while i'm there.

Hey, give a short review when you checked them out.

I rather have James's tone, more suited to my playing style.

I own the HM-200. Yes...it's a very versatile distortion pedal. I used it to cover many genres of music. Just need to tweak here and there lah...to get that optimum sound you prefer.

When I was at Standard Value months ago....I was eyeing on the Metal King....but when Mike introduce me to this piece...I know this is the one I want. But at the end of the day..it's all about preference. For someone whose into hard rock....I'd say this is one wicked effect!! Try it out!!

I have a review on this product. Check it out:
