Best strings ever!- Curt Mangan strings

Hey guys thought I share this new brand of strings I've tried recently: Curt Mangan strings. They are the most awesome strings I have ever played! Didn't realize that strings could make sure a big diff in tone and playability!

First tried them on my LP, which came with d addario strings. The stock strings were horrible, always going out of tune, tarnished very quickly and felt very stiff. A friend of mine recommended me to try out curt mangans and they made a world of a difference! Strings felt slinky now, stayed in tune and my LP always feels lively everytime I take her out to play. After 2 months of just applying fast frets, there is almost no tarnish on the strings.

My 2nd experience with Curt Mangans was yesterday. About a month ago, I restrung my paduak Washburn N4 with Darco strings and they were just horrible. Felt stiff, stayed out of tune, tarnished very quickly. But after restringing my N4 with Mangans, the strings barely go out of tune. They stood the test of countless dive bombs last night and still stayed in tune despite being a new set of strings!

Highly recommended for everyone!
For those of you interested, these strings are available from Guitar77 and Sound Alchemy for $6.50.

Sounds like a sales pitch... lol.. jokg..

Do the shops carry 10-46s, btw?

Pure Nickel ones are damn shiok.

I got cheated for the coated ones though, plain strings not coated.
Salesguy zzzz

Neh, they're bright. And they last longer than EB slinkys 10's

but i'm an elixir user so i only hopped over when elixirs were out of stock.
I don't get why companies advertise coated strings when the plain strings aren't coated.
They're the reason why i buy coated strings ma

Wow, thought Curt Magan were sort of well-known. haha I'm a huge Magans user. Tried it for fun once when I got sick of EBs. But I was "converted" immediately, all the guitars that I strung with CMs are much more "alive" and I find the strings are more resonant and have a better feel than EBs. They also last longer than EBs.

above: my CM pack way back in 2008. back then, .0095s were kinda hard to find, i only had 3 brand names to choose from: PRS/ Curt Mangan/ D'Addario. tried them all.

For me, I prefer D'Addario over Curt Mangan. My experience of CM was it sounded very good at first. But after a week plus, it became rather "dull" or "dead" and not as dynamic in feel. Whereas the D'Addario lasted longer (up to a month) in terms of having the same sound, responsiveness and feel. As for their life span before rust sets in, both are about the same. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

But nowadays I only use Elixir nanoweb because I hate changing strings.

Lol Ian. You should try Elixir Polywebs. Tone for months! My second choice is probably GHS Boomers followed by DR Hi-beams (no longer retailing in SG). Curt Mangans are not bad, IMO better than Ernie Ball and D'Addario, but not the best.

My experience with the two brands is the direct opposite. I find that D'addario loses its feel and tone after a few days as compared to CMs. And somehow CMs seems to be able to take the playing from my sweaty palms alot better than D'addario and EBs. But I agree, different strings for different folks. =D

Tried them all- EB/CM/Addario/GHS/Elixir, Pyramid Pure Nickel Round Wound for the win.

Pure nickel strings just seem to give a warmer and more balanced tone plus they last longer than nickel wounds. Sure, nickel wounds will seem brighter initially but from experience most nickel wounds loose their brightness and become dull in tone very quickly.

Not a fan of coated strings leh. I find that the bass response on the lower strings are quite dull.

Agreed! I guess if you've found what works for you, great. But for those still searching for the right set of strings, hopefully this will be the right one for you.

i know that feel bro
but it takes adaptation for somebody that can't use anything but elixirs.
Make your fingers make them sound good if you know what i mean =D
