Best Set-Up in Town?

Just bought an Epi Les Paul and would like to get it properly set up, probably needs to have the nut replaced. Can anyone recommend a good shop?

Beez is the man.
Bring it to him for setup, sit down and chit chat with him. learn a thing or two about setups and you might be able to do your own setups in the future. He's not stinge on sharing details and enjoys a good conversation.
:)

The only guitar tech I've had experience with is Mike from Standard Value. The most recent setup he did for my low-end Ibanez was several years back, and in my opinion it hasn't changed. Still plays perfectly. Only downside is that he's at the Woodlands branch, might be inconvenient for some people.

Mike has improved in many ways. I see him doing better and more complexed jobs in the years to come and will probably be a main guy around doing setups.

he's now moved into refret's and more. Saw some of his tools in his shop. The guy is prepared. I tried his refret service and it was good, affordable and fast.

i've heard a lot about beez and malcom but try out scott from sound alchemy as well. set up my guitar really nicely.

beez definitely, hes the man. i've got my guitar setup by him for $50 and it'll only take half an hr.

mines a stoptail-ed guitar, dont know how much he charges for floyd roses though.

Mike alternates between the Woodlands and Peninsula outlets. So far the only tech I have gone to, he did a good job on a used Ibanez I bought. But i believe for more complex jobs (refrets, extracting floyd rose studs, etc...) go to Woodlands (main branch) as the tools for such jobs are there. For a typical setup either branch i fine.

I'm also with Mike, he did a great job on my Ibanez RGTCR2 and the friends i've brought there, many of whom have had many years of playing experience, have been impressed by his workmanship, speed, friendliness and pricing. Highly recommended.

I guess its a question of location, i realise that KC is very central, Mike's to the northwest-ish area and Beez is towards the east. I rate these 3 men very highly, and i wld trust my guitar to any of them. To me, they're all of the same calibre. Thus, if i were to pick, i'd probably pick the one closest to my house.

Of course, there's also Malcolm but be ready to spend if you're going to go to him, he's probably the best in Singapore but of course quality comes with a price.

Malcolm's a class above the rest, I feel, because his capabilities are a lot broader. He's a qualified luthier with experience in actually building guitars. He can probably do repairs that we'd think are impossible.

Wow, thanks for all the feedback. There's a lot of love here for Beez, but no info on where he is and how to contact him... Anyone...? Anyone...?

(It's an Epi Les Paul, btw.)

Beez is locating at Roxy Square in Kallang, google it or search the forum and you'll find out. Mike's at SV Guitars@Peninsula on thursdays i think and at woodlands for the other days. KC's at Maestro at Peninsula and Malcolm you'll have to contact him yourself. And the model of the guitar doesn't matter, these men will treat it with the utmost care and caution, as if it were their own.
