I don't play drums anymore, but I used to and have used Vic Firth, Zildjian and Vater. I agree that there is no 'best stick' since it's all personal preference. Personally, I like Vaters the most.

How come there's no Pro-mark? Surely they're also one of the bigger stick companies? (Bigger than Zildjian and Tama, stick-wise)

Hi,
Looks like you are the type of customer most retailers would love to have !
( but breaking sticks too often is bad for your pocket /ear / cymbals / drumheads )

1) Most probably you are either hitting excessively hard & getting your ear damaged prematurely too ( at 3FT /1M proximity the ear would experience damage at 20k hz after about 15 mins without ear protection - ear ringing would eventually follow if one were to persistently do this )
or
2) Hitting the cymbals the wrong way ( eg> crashing at the edge - your cymbals would eventually develop cracks too !

SOLUTION >Try crashing by hitting from inside out (from the middle of the cymbal -between bell & cymbal edge ) out towards either the left or right away from the cymbal )
With practice you would be able to develop the right feel of it - the cymbals ( crash sound quality ) would also sound better too to the audience !
( saving you unnecessary, frequent re-purchase of drumsticks, drumheads, cymbals, your ears & hard earned money )

GodBless !
