Best Amp Head & Amp Cab Available in Singapore

First of all thank you for giving time to read my post.

Looking to purchase my 1st ever Amp Head & Amp Cabinet.

Here is a little info on what I like:
- I play basically all types of music from: Lady Gaga --> Incubus --> Metallica
- This will be only used for studio/room.
- Budget is below $1,500 for both amp and cab.
- Probably 2x12 Cab. 4x12 is too much for room use.
- 2-3 channels will do.
- I use a fender am strat and an Ibanez with 2 humbucker.

The original choice was Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier - But cant afford and it is not here in Singapore.


I have been searching for a while but could not really find what I am looking for.

Fellow softies, maybe can shed some light - Any recommendation?

1.5k budget a bit low.. all i can think of is blackstars... but thats way below budget. they don't sound so bad though. heard a lot of good reviews about the HT-5 also. could always check out woodworks or something at peninsula basement. don't blame me if you don't like it. heh

With that budget you may just be better off with looking for 2nd hand sets on soft. There was a Marshall MA head Going for $600 a couple of weeks ago, thought that was a pretty decent deal!

There's a nice univalve in the classads which should satisfy the clean sound, get your distortion from pedals

@AaronSoFat - Blackstars HT-5, actually is one of the many choices on my list. I've seen videos about this AMP, quite nice but again I am not sure.

@JCustom - Marshall's MA, Hmmmm…. I have seen a lot of bad reviews on the MA but Marshall's can't handle well with distortion??. Ma's are muddy on distortion.

Haha, my friend you have much to learn. Some other stuff you might wanna check out: Jet City JCA20H, Orange Dual Terror, VHT Special 6, VHT Special 6 Ultra, THD Pico/Uni/Bivalve, Vox AC4H, Vox Night Train Head, Line 6 DT50 etc. Many many choices for you to choose from out there. All comes down to how you want your setup to be.

mesas are loud & most too loud for home use. tried a single rectifier and really hated it because after hitting "2" slightly, the volume would be too loud. the distortion coming from those amps are very dark sounding imo. it's a love / hate thing.

THD amps are worth considering. I like the tweakability & definitely home friendly. Check them out at TYMC.

oh btw, number of speakers does not mean louder volume. volume is determined by the head. the only constraint is the space. more speakers to me = more dynamics.
