Orientus Country Club and Resorts presents a brand new Band competition!

PRIZES:

WINNER - $1500 SGD **Cash!!** plus free resort memberships for whole band+ 2 nights stay + 2 bottles of Courvoisier

1st Runner Up - $1000 SGD **Cash!!** plus free resort memberships for whole band + 1 night stay + 1 bottle of Courvoisier

3rd place - $500 SGD **Cash!!** plus free resort memberships for whole band + 1 bottle of courvoisier

Top 3 teams will be entitled to 10 hours of heavily discounted recording time each at Orientus Resorts' in-house recording and production house Backpack Studios at 1/3rd of standard market rates for recording.

Rules:
Number of Band members: minimum 4, maximum 6

Vocalists: Minimum 1, maximum 6 (ie, no instrumental songs allowed in this competition)

Language: No limitation on any language as long as it does not involve vulgarities. Lyrics of all songs possibly used by the bands will need to be submitted beforehand as part of registration process. Non english songs will need to include an English translation.

Instruments: All guitarists, bassists, Cajon/hand percussionists and keyboardists are expected to bring their own instruments, pedals, effects units and cables. Drummers are welcome to bring their own snares and cymbals as long as they can be able to set up within the allotted time frame.

Setup Duration:
Each band is allowed 10 minutes at the end of the previous band's teardow to setup their equipment and 5 mins of teardown time at the end of their own set.

Performance Duration:
Each band is allowed a performance duration of 6 mins per song inclusive of time between songs.
2 songs for 1st round,
2 songs for quarters and semifinals with maximum of one repeated song between these 2 rounds
3 songs for the finals, inclusive of minimum ONE acoustic/unplugged song.

Dates:

16th August (Monday) first round, day 1. Top four of the day advance to Quarterfinals.
17th August (Tuesday) first round, day 2. Top four of the day advance to Quarterfinals. Plus Drawing lots for Quarterfinals order.
18th August (Wednesday) Quarterfinals and Semis part 1.
19th August (Thursday) Quarterfinals and Semis part 2.
20th August (Friday) 3rd/4th place battle and Grand Finals.

Fees:
each band is required to pay a registration fee of $60 SGD upon arrival at the competition venue.

Send an email to marketing@orientusresorts.com with the subject "Battle of the Bands" so that we can send you a registration form. After completion of the registration form, please email a scan back to us at the same email address or fax it to us at Fax number 6484 0159.

Alternatively, you can visit us at 1021 Mornington Crescent, Orientus Country Club and Resorts (Near Seletar East Camp) to personally fill and submit the forms and registration fees.

Timing of the events

I was just curious to know what time the events from 16th-20th of August will be taking place and I'm curious to know if song covers are allowed, or only originals . Thank you .

To answer the question, repertoire is not limited in any way whether linguistically or in terms of covers/originals. All songs are welcome.

the only rule is that non-english songs should include an English translation of the lyrics for the judges. Additionally, any song(s) that contain offensive/controversial content will risk being denied at the prerogative of the judge(s).
 
Regarding timings, that is still unfixed at this point as we are still compiling the responses and it will depend on how many bands eventually signup by the national day deadline.
 
As me and my band members are still schooling, it would be nice to know when timings before we sign up before we register . Is there any approximated timing that can be derived ? eg : around 3-4p.m etc ?
 
The BATTLE OF THE BANDS competition has been postponed till further notice due to unforeseen circumstances. Sorry for the inconvenience caused and thank you so much for the support thus far especially to those who have already indicated their interest.
