Bass Octavers

Hey guys here's a quick question.

Which octaver has been the 'best' for you so far.

I'm stuck between a choice of the MXR Bass Octave Deluxe as well as a Boss OC-2. I read and heard reviews of both. The MXR seems a lil better than the Boss, but i like the synth like tones from the OC-2. But the MXR has some punch which i like as well.

Any advice or user reviews here?

And where can i find the MXR BOD?

THanks. (:

I've only used one octaver so far, EBS Octabass.

Sold it off after a while though. Sorry i can't do a comparision between the pedals but i can give you my thoughts on the Octabass. It has three octaver modes. One low range mode that creates sub notes, a normal octave mode and a high pass octave mode.

I think it's one of the most varied octave pedals around, give you options to tweak how you want your octaved note to sound like. Tracking is awesome. Two notes tracking isn't an issue for this pedal, they claim to be able to track up to 3 notes but when i tried it, it wasn't really up to expectations for the 3-note tracking.

Other than that the pedal is really really awesome. I regretted selling it though. Would love to get it back in my rig when i have the chance.

depends on what kinda music u wanna play. octavers on bass defines genres imho, like pino with 80's synth like sounds or pure DnB. not many avenues for rock.

it's worth noting that analogue octavers are, frankly, shit at tracking, both the octavers you mentioned included. they are probably most (and only) effective when you play on the higher frets.

if tracking is a great concern for you, you can start by looking from the EHX microPOG and go upwards.

I understand the tracking sucks on analogue octavers. But don't really bother bout the tracking. As long as it does not suck too bad.

Anyway, pretty much firm on the MXR BOD just looking around before i get it. We'll see how it goes. (:

The tracking is not bad on the Octron, at least if you are playing single notes. For chords, a digital pedal would track better. You'd probably want to look at something like the MicroPOG or POG2, etc.

Are you only looking for an octaver that does octave down? coz if I remember correctly the BOD doesn't do an octave up.

octave down. If BOD does not cut it for me, i may try the Bass Microsynth. Heard it gets some cool tones as well. and does octave too.

hey, i was thinking about getting the mxr BOD as well, seems like a good versatile pedal. do you know if i can get it in singapore?
