hi, i have a unfinished warmoth maple jazz bass neck, dun like the raw wood feel.. thinking of coating it.. any suggestion wht finishing materiel to use? n how its feel? wht fender neck finishing use n so for the warwick n others? thinking of use tung oil.. is it nice?

i use colron antique wood oil (tung oil with resins) on my warwick neck and it feels sticky to me. i believe the oil is more meant for furniture. but after playing it for a while it goes away. could just be my body oils being coated over that.

the resins (i'm guessing) provide a very thin hardened finish that takes away the raw feel of the neck. I'm pretty sure my neck felt grainier before. nowadays i just use lemon oil which is what some other warwick forum guys use as well. but lemon oil isnt applicable for maple right?

i dunno.. n i want my bass neck to see abit yellowish rather then white now... i heard ppl say after apply tung oil must apply some wax right? wht is the wax mr shinobi mention n where can i got it? thanks

carnauba wax is a finishing product for guitar bodies. im not sure where to get just the wax, or how to use it. but there are some off the shelf polishing products that contain carnauba wax, like the dunlop and planet waves.

i have the planet waves and it is the real thing. but it is a beach to apply and polish off

I love lacquered necks. I know not a lot of people do, but i am currently using a MIJ 60's RI P-bass with the whole vintage tinge going on. Loving it.

Im ok with lacquered necks like the ones on fender japan. It doesn't really matter to me. Perhaps u could check with the TB luthiers forum. Our local luthiers probably don't check in that often
