What if u connect a bass amp to a mixer and use it as a monitor speaker? If there are like guitars drums and bass playing something.. will it like spoil the bass amp? Cos lets say we only have one bass amp to do with..

i dont think it will spoil. just that it will not reproduce the full range of frequency since it is tuned for bass.

haha.. so e diff is onli wont sound as nice la.. but other than that, audible enough to hear ok if ure not too fussy? cos i know if u run a bass thru a guitar amp, e amp will spoil or sth.. so bass wont la.. onli will compromise ur sound la.. haha.. im only afraid it spoils or sth.. yea?

Are you using the amp as a SPEAKER or as a MONITOR? Does your PA already have the 2 black rectangles with spongy material in front connected to it?

A MONITOR (or more aptly, stage monitor) is for individual instrument players and vocalists to hear themselves on stage. These monitors can be amps and would be connected to your parallel output of your DI. In the case of vocal or drum monitors, these would be connected to the AUX output of your mixer.

If you're trying to use your bass amp as a SPEAKER, don't.

I'd think, if the purpose of a monitor is to provide an accurate reproduction of the sound that's going in, then a bass amp wouldn't really fulfil that purpose, would it?

unless u have your mixer on stage you would probably end up getting a lot of buzzing on the amp as well because most amps only have unbalanced instrument inputs. Unbalanced lines pick up a lot of inteference along the way as opposed to balanced lines, which a proper stage monitor should be able to take.

i don't think it will spoil, just that it may be 'buzzy' because of line interference. trying to keep the line out from the mixer to the bass amp as short as possible may help a bit. you probably have to do a bit of equalisation on the amp as well from your mixer. this is less than ideal but will probably still work if thats your only option..

hmm but just think bout it. what for they make amps for bass, guitar, and other things ? got a reason what..right ? so i dont think its really advisable to use the bass amp for something else. but up to you, you can try it (= haha

Hi

the horn and the woofer inside the bass amp is response more on lower frequency. It will sound more 'dark or deep' becos bass is in low freq. Guitar, mic, and keyboard will not spolit the bass amp. If budget wise and u dont mind the sound quality, bass amp is fine for monitoring. If possible u can get a keybaord amp to replace becos keyboard amp the freq range is much wider. Some ppl say play bass using guitar amp will spolit the amp is becos the power of bass is much stronger than treble. The horn will not be able to take it that y it break the speaker. :)
