GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Responsible for developmental activities involving Ludwig product lines.
2. Conduct new product research and design in accordance with market demands.
3. Provide technical training support in areas of product nomenclature, product performance, and merchandising techniques for dealers, sales force, and internal staff.
4. Monitor and report feedback relative to product problems and/or upgrades to assure maintenance of product quality.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:
1. Identify areas for new products including market research, source materials, and propose design for development, coordinate development of prototypes and market tests.
2. Identify and track product feedback from dealers, artists, and sales force.
3. Track and maintain information on current product lines with comparisons to competitive product.
4. Maintain quality control database including complaints, communication, status, and action.
5. Responsible for control and maintenance of all R & D related budgets.
6. Assist in designing and coordinating product displays.
7. Identify and assist in development of all support materials (parts catalogs, price lists, handouts, etc).
8. Develop internal product education seminars.
9. Assist in creation of press releases and develop relationships with public relations sources.
10. Coordinate, assist, and/or prepare timely response to consumer inquiries.
11. Work with divisional members to develop annual marketing plan.
12. Control and maintain consignment merchandise.
13. Understand all sales and marketing programs related to Ludwig.

PRE-DETERMINED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required. Degree in engineering is a plus.
2. A minimum of 5 years experience in wholesale or retail percussion industry or related experience.
3. Competency in the use of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access). Experience with Macintosh design systems is a plus.
4. Effective verbal and written communication skills including command of the English language, listening, and presentation ability.
5. Color vision.
6. Self-starter with strong initiative willing to challenge status quo.
7. Demonstrated ability to work in complex situations with professionalism and decorum.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Must be able to travel both domestically and internationally approximately 40% of the time.
2. Requires ability to stand on feet for extended (12 hours) periods of time.
3. Ability to lift over 50 lbs for display set up and tear down.
4. Excellent hearing.
