Are you a four stringer or five/six?

Depends la. Sometimes 6, but mostly 4. Who wants a bassist who dosent play basslines often these days? This would probably not apply to those who take solos frequently in a small combo, but yeah. The role of bass is fundamentally grooving as part of the rhythm section.

If i had a 5, i'd use it often i guess. but i dont at the moment.

lol ..

me got 2 four stringers

one short scale

one jumbo scale.

from short to vintage to jumbo , personally i feel that there is really a humongous difference !

ya loh...even if I had a proper guitar, I will only use the bottom 2 strings. Cos power chords are all I know

6... sticking with 6 so far... unless some one wants to buy me a 4?

i have a 5 but i only use it for jamming outside cuz it doesnt have enough punch (pickups also have low output) cuz my 6 weighs a ton (literally... haha)

depends on the use ... for slapping and funky grooves ... i prefer to use a four stringer ... cos u cant use yer thumb to press the upper string on a six stringer, right?

for rock and all that jazz a six stringer would be best ... more string = more range = more fun

u just have to get used to the extra strings =) its like "a new tuning". i've been switching around from 6/7 string guitar and 4/5/6 string basses once every so often that i can adapt to whichever after a while. its fun to play all the diff number of strings on one same kind of instrument.

maybe your movement on stage might play a big part wen selecting bass.

i guess if you play statically(just stand there not moving around) and you nid the lows and highs, probly a 6 is a wonderful add on to ur rig. no sweat

but if u play rock punk and all dat where u move ard a lot, a 4 is safe. cuz you wont worry so much wen u lost ur fingering with all the sweat and panting and intoxication and girls in the crowd, hehe...

personally i had a yamaha 5 stringer and tho a tad heavy i managed to wear it onstage well. the fretboard mite be abit wide but i managed, phew.

now i have a 4, havent tried it onstage yet. but i guess i'll do fine( pray 4 me). its so much liter and fretboard is slim. woohoo!!!

hope my finger stretching fr playing 5 will help on my 4, hehe..

theres a lot of considerations in choosing a bass ( like comfort, tone, pups, etc) but im sharing just one outof thousands of factors which mite be helpful 2 u.

cheers!!!
