hey hey. im intending to get a small, portable set for home practice and small shows. thot of these two options. but need opinions from fellow drummers about both sets about e following:

1) performance & quality

Change to better drumheads and quality of sound up a few notches. With the shells RT will have warmth and depth.

2) practicality

RT will be bulky because of the shell.

3) price

Arbiter with cymbals and case will cost you at least $1200 plus freight.

4) ease of obtaining e set.

Arbiter is from UK. RT can get locally. Can give you lobang to get brand new RT for $550 without cymbals and throne.

tanx for e help bout e two sets dude. anoder qn i wanna post. RT and roland v-lite hd-1. which is beta for home practice n small gig shows?

that's two separate things now. one's an acoustic set, the other an electronic. there has been quite a number of threads on acoustic vs. electronic.

if you do go with the e-kit, you'd have to compromise the feel of an acoustic set. you would though, without a doubt, be less disturbing to your neighbours when you practise. it'd be easier to do home-recording, and you wont have to spend as much money since e-kits do not require change of skins, purchasing of new cymbals and snares. the hd-1 saves up quite a bit of space too.

on the other hand, if you get an RT, you'd prolly want to change skins and get new cymbals. drum_hobbyist summed it all up for RT. compared to both Arbiter and the HD-1, RTs are significantly bigger and bulkier. The RT would be the more economical choice amongst the three, i think. the RT sounds pretty darn fine when mic'ed up too.

i'd say to get the RT, for both home use and small-scaled gigs.

my 0.02; hope it helps.

Just wondering the Pro Arbiter Flats since they are so flat? do they feel the same as durms? and are the soft enough to be played in HDB with fussy neighbours? Might consider getting that .

bro, i thought you just bought a dm5 pro?

some people i know dont like the sound of flats, personally i've tried out drum_hobbyist's PurePercussion kit and i was pleasantly surprised! the BD doesnt really cut it for me though, but it'd be a perfect alternative to a drumset if you had space limitations.

I dunno about you guys but when I first went to Fuman's house (CSI redux! Whens the next one ? LoL side track abit), I felt that his kit do take up a fair bit of space (probably its due to the number of cymbals Fuman has mounted on his kit ).

If comparing with a normal acoustic kit then the flats could probably stand up in terms of saving space. But with the RT ? I think probably about the same. My 2 cents tho.

Just wondering. And maybe considering, anywhere to try them out in singapore?

heres what i feel; the flats would be a pretty good choice with the expansion options that are availiable should you require to expand your future drum set as an add on but if you do have the cash go for a hipgig its the best in terms of form and functionality.

Hey Lepak,

I've been looking around for a drum kit also. Stumbled upon this shop that sells Arbitar Flats Lite. I actually emailed them and this is their prompt reply.

"It is going for $999 and comes as a complete package with the stands, cymbals, throne and pedal.

The unit is available at Ebenex Music at 138A East Coast Road and Blackwood Guitars at #03-55 Bras Basah Complex, opposite Swee Lee."

My take is if u want to buy tt. Might as well buy a electronic drumset =p

Cheers!
