Aphex`

Thanks Mr.Bey. I just found out from another forum. Hmm, $279...

I was actually looking at the Punch Factory. But realised that both have D.I. Too many DI's on the marlet!!!

I'm gonna run back to Sansamps, MXRs and maybe sometime Radial...

U referring to their Exciters? Saw a couple of em at Music Plaza.

How about BBE Sonic Stomps?

I have not had the chance to try them before.

But they perform a similar function and cost around SGD 200 (based on US prices).

Are those tailored for guitars or generic? Hmm nevermind, i'll do a search when i get back. :p

BBE includes Guitarists & Bassists as its target audience.

Guitarists and bassists have been demanding a foot pedal version of the legendary BBE Sonic Maximizer and the wait is finally over!

Many musicians don't have a spot for the rack mount unit, but long for the legendary clarity, definition and punch that only a Sonic Maximizer can provide. BBE took heed and carefully designed the Sonic Stomp foot pedal which delivers the same amazing sonic improvement as our popular 482i Sonic Maximizer.

Other features include hard-wire bypass, non-slip rubber bottom, easy-access 9v battery compartment and included external power supply.

i'm still not sure, but what does the aphex exciters and the bbe sonic maximizers do exactly? are they like compressors or noise gates of sorts?

Compressors - compress high and low dynamics for a more consistent sound (the way the notes form/fade also gives rise to a feel of increased sustain).

Noise Gate - remove unwanted noise by cutting signal (close gate) when signal falls below certain level.

Aphex Exciter/Sonic Maximiser - From description/specs, it looks like they enhance (boost) very specific frequencies. Preferably have an actual user advise on this.
