Found this off another forum
(I'm also working on my Xboard61 problems, so i'll be trying the below advice after work today.)
Wish you luck.

OK

my Xboard49 is working steady for 2 weeks now.

Here's how:

Uninstalled all EMU software in control panel/add remove software.
deleted all copies of emuumidi.sys and usbaudio.sys from my hard drive, including hidden and system directories.
renamed C:\WINDOWS\Driver Cache\i386\driver.cab to driver.cab.bak
rebooted and plugged in my Xboard, windows finds usb audio device with the yellow exclamation/missing driver notice.
update driver and choose the latest emu usb midi audio device.
when it asks for emuumidi.sys, give it the original off of the install cd in audio\drivers\driver\i386\ dated 4-26-2005.
all the other files it asks for can be found in Windows\system32 or Windows\system32\drivers directories.
running perfect, all software now finding EMU Xboard 49.
and, for the first time ever, Emu's usb midi control panel app is opening showing entries in every field !
- occasionally I need to reboot when the Xboard49 is not found, but this is very rare and windows always finds it on second start.

try it, you'll like it !

what Operating System are u using?
I'm using Windows vista ultimate and i can't find my driver cache folder in windows...
