Hey guys... just got back into the country! Im looking around for mesa amps. And I was down at Davis earlier and the guy said no one in Singapore sells them anymore!! Tell me he's lying pls somebody... Have they finally gone extinct over here? Someone let me know please...thanks. I heard some shop at Sim Lim Square still/used to deal Mesa..?? Esden Trading is it.?? If anyone's been there recently and can verify they still sell Mesas, please let me know. Cheers!

forgot where i saw it, but it was said that one of the shops in simlimsquare outskirts (that is not inside the building, but those shops before you enter the airconditioned area) sells mesa...

I think it was said that their attitude and pricing wasn't right too....

I went Mesa's website, actually there are no authorized dealer for Singapore or Malaysia. Just some information for you all. Warranty wise may take a different shade based on this. Hope it helps.

Gentlemen, the issue is Mesa's annual volume requirement. Having a Mesa dealership is kinda like having a platinum credit card.

Right off, Mesa requires a dealer to take 2 of each model as its initial stock. Of course the dealer can negotiate on this requirement but we are looking at an initial outlay of SGD50-100k of stock.

Following this initial outlay, Mesa will also require its dealer to be able to absorb new stock annually so as to keep the dealership.

This is really tough to do in Singapore since Mesa also requires dealers to stay above a certain discount price. Any violation and you lose the dealership.

Swee Lee was the first dealer and then a couple of years later, Esden Trading gave it a shot. Rumours have it that they took a couple of pieces but then decided not to take the rest of the inventory and the dealership.

Hence, now we have no Singapore dealer.

imho, even if theres a dealer here, wonder how well can the demand be, for local market. Think it can be kinda hard to sell gear more than 2,3k where seem more ppl are just enthusiast rather than actual musician.

And hell yeah, 50k to 100k!! that can be too much, even for a normal average guitar shop to stock up.

Oh on that, i am alwasy fascinated by this taiwanese gear shop, chk out the stuff they are carrying. Really fierce gear

And it seem that the biz is not supported by big corporation....

wow that taiwan shop is mad.. they have almost everything.. i m quite sure that all the pedals from our local stores haven't got what this shop has.. i'll probably spend hours there.. can i say, it's a pedal paradise!!!

wow.. that is quite a tough dealership to hang on to.. n 50k to start off?.. that's quite mad..

Here's my own story, when I was at Winter NAMM in January, I approached G&L to enquire on overseas dealer requirements.

One of the reps there mentioned " .... about 100 to 150 guitars for your initial order".

So ended my interest in the G&L dealership ...... Im sure I could have negotiated further but gee, even 10% of that number is huge.

..... still, they do make pretty decent guitars. :D

haha.. that's at least $100,000..
madness.. sometimes i wonder what they r thinking.. they probably forgot they r selling guitars n think they r selling strings or picks..
it's like robbing the dealer of his money rather than trying to sell n promote the product to the public.. so wrong!!

esden trading in sim lim still carries mesas but their stock is really limited. they have only 1 blue angel i think and goodness knows how long its been sitting there.

I enquired about the f series of amps about 5 months back and the guy told me its on order. I asked him how long it would take, he said he didnt know ( nonsense imo if u have really placed an order ). I just enquired about the amp 1 week ago and he still didnt have it in stock.

If you are really intetested in a mesa amp, i suggest u contact mesa usa directly by mail. They sent me a catalogue and told me they would be shipping it, if i was interested. But the high shipping fees( about sgd 400 for a 1x12 combo) and the lack of customer support should anything like the power supply go wrong, was a deterent.

So i guess im gonna stick to ordering a peavey head instead :)

Seriously, rather than buy from US, I would rather buy from say Hong Kong. At least the shipping is not that expensive.

Yea...well if import is really the only choice left, which country is best to have it imported from? I know importing from US will cost a bomb. But there are dealers in Jarkarta and Australia last time I checked. However, I also hear countries outside the US sell them at equally high prices because they obviously had to pay to have the amps shipped to them in the first place. Might still work out slightly cheaper, I dunno. On the other hand, apparently Americans pay peanuts (compared to what we'd pay) for their Mesas, if you ignore the shipping cost. Take for example a Dual Rectifier head...I've heard of people from other forums getting theirs for around US$1000 or less even. What's that...like S$2000?? Add $400 for shipping and you've still got a bargain. In the UK, whilst I was there, the head alone costs almost 2000 pounds (S$5,000+) Some australians I met at forums said they were being robbed a whoppin' $5000 too..! Anyways, I'd really like to hear from anyone who's had experience buying/importing Mesas for personal use.
