Any idea how can I mic a cajon to get a clean and good sound?

My church recently purchase a cajon and use it in some worship sessions. We have tried hard to mic and EQ it but the sound don't seem very right.

We are using the single micing method, to place a MS 57 near to the sound hole. ( I think this method might be told by the seller to our musicians. )

Anyone can tell me whats going wrong with it? Any way to rectify this?

At SYFC performing arts, when we use the cajon, we have a big condenser mic (the upright type, not too sure exactly) near the soundhole, but facing the opposite direction. We also have another smaller condenser mic (pencil mic) in front of the cajon to catch the 'snare' sounds. Seems to work nicely. Perhaps give that a try? I don't think one mic is enough for a cajon.
