hi, just started out in guitar lessons

as a beginner, ok to get any brand that's cheap and ok for practise purpose?

saw a few Yamaha classical letting go as 2ndhand with bag. gd to buy?

at davis guitar, a normal brand cost $65 new for classical.

main focus is to move to acoustic once got the basics.

thks for comments. :)

Yamaha classicals are good (any jap brands, i believe). They'll last quite a while. If you're getting 2nd hands, it'll be good to get an experienced fren to check the condition of the guitar for you.

Or you could borrow one from a fren who doesn't need his, since your focus will be folk guitars. Can save up the money to invest in a good steel stringer.

Or you can get a folk guitar now, since the classical course you're taking is mainly to pick up the basics. When I started playing, was playing a Yamaha folk guitar, while the rest of the class used classical guitars. No doubt the feel will be different, but at this stage, you won't be needing the fretting precision.

Just my 2 cents worth. =)

how abt getting a Maestro Guitar?
My frd got one and the action is really low wor
Tempting to get one also liaoz =)

Yamaha's are also not bad but need to choose abit wor coz QC for lower end models not even i think

Cheers =)

I assume you're refering to low action. Action is the distance between the fingerboard and the string. Having it low will allow you to play with ease, not so much effort needed to press the string down.

If you want cheap guitar, buy a Kapok steel string and a pack of $5 classical strings. That should cost less than $50. For practice, it should suffice. Just my 2 cents worth.
