another pot question?

Hi all, since there has been a bit of talk about pots lately.. thought i'd bring up a query here..

I changed my old,crackling pots on my guitar to the so-called "standard" CTS ones not too long ago.. But i realised for both after turning the knob levels past like 2 or 3 it reaches maximum volume (or tone).. As in the knob at 3 or 10 makes no difference, the difference occurs only from 0-3 basically.. Er.. Am I even phrasing this right? Do correct me if I got the terms wrong..

Anyone who knows what may be wrong? Thanks!

You are using a Linear pot instead of a Logarithmic (Audio) pot.

Switch to a Log pot.
